...And These Are a Few of My Favorite Things....
Sophia Grace and Rosie, I love you! The first time I saw these little British girls, they were on the Ellen Show. Oh my goodness, kids just don’t get more adorable than these two! Sophia Grace was eight years old when she posted her first YouTube video singing “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj. Her younger cousin Rosie does not sing, but dances up a storm and mouths the words. She is the confidence booster her older cousin needs to perform. Their pink tutus and princess tiaras are almost as adorable as their personalities. Together, they bring smiles to millions of fans! If you have not experienced a dose of happy today, please take a moment to watch their video. I just know they will become one of your favorites too!
Sophia Grace and Rosie on Ellen
Speaking of Ellen, her show is one that I try to watch if at all possible, for her joy is contagious! From the interaction with her guests to her famous dancing, Ellen is unforgettable. Fortunately, she remains a gracious and humble person. Whether it’s deserving individuals or schools, her generosity, along with sponsors like Target, help many people in need. No matter how stressful my day gets, a few minutes or even better, an hour with her brings back my happy! You are one of my favorite people, Ellen.
Lavender is a favorite of many people, and I am one of them. One year for Christmas, I received a satin pillow case with a removable lavender sachet. It was one of the best gifts I ever received. Going to sleep with the scent of lavender each night is a heavenly aromatherapy treat. Its delicate aroma also floats in the air just outside my bedroom window, for I strategically planted it nearby!
Super Soul Sunday on the OWN network is soul food that most anyone can enjoy. Oprah’s network is developing, but her Sundays cannot be more perfect. Guests such as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson and Tony Robbins are just a few of the many guests she has interviewed. Already, Super Soul Sunday has won an Emmy, and in my opinion it is the best programming on TV. If you do not have the OWN network on your TV, you can also find it streaming live on Facebook on Sundays and many of Oprah’s interviews are on the OWN website. Sunday is my favorite day of the week and Super Soul Sunday makes my favorite day, even more special.
Meditation is something that I love, need, enjoy and find hard to do. For some reason It is easier for me to go to a guided meditation. Maybe it’s because I have given this specific time to become quiet, or maybe it’s because I am simply following someone else’s words, but I find it easier than doing it on my own. The calming effect it has on my state of mind, as well as the relaxation if offers my body is so worth the little time it takes. Now I just have to figure out how to be successful on my own. Yes, I’m a work in progress, but I shall continue to try because it is well worth the effort and successful or not, it is one of my favorite things to attempt..
The older I get, the more I marvel at Mother Nature. From the tiny, amazing bee or the majestic giant redwood, to the awesome power of a tornado or hurricane, Mother Nature is astonishing! I gave my nephew the Discovery DVD series, “Planet Earth,” one year for Christmas and we watched each segment together. After watching this footage on our planet, I have an even greater respect for her and the perfection she produces. One of my greatest hopes is that mankind will realize our planet is a living, breathing entity, and will learn to treat her with the respect she deserves. After all, we only have one and if we damage her to the point of no return, we too will perish. Mother Nature, I will always be in awe of you!
The creative process is one of my favorite things because it allows us to get out of the “box” and explore the realm of possibility. Some people don’t like to leave the “box” because it feels risky or uncomfortable. Personally, I thrive on it. The creative process is the beginning of every new idea, whether it is in science, technology or the arts. So while I can appreciate those who would rather leave creativity to others, I am grateful for those who can’t live without it!
Have you ever given thought to some of your favorite things? If you have, I hope you find time to incorporate them into your life and if you have not, I hope you will give it some thought and then bring them closer to you. We all need more happy in our lives, don’t you think?
