What's to Love About Autumn
The air is a little crispier, the children are already going back to school and the holidays will be here before you know it. Yes, it is time for autumn.
There are many things to love and appreciate about this time of the year. When I think the fall season, the following things come to mind. What's your favorite thing about the autumn?
The Colors of Autumn
The most distinguishing features about autumn are the beautiful colors. You can't escape it, but then why would you want to. The bright reds, yellows and oranges that are painted on the leaves just perfectly before they fall. It's a nice touch to a road trip or gaze out the window.
End of Summer
There'll be less trips to the beach, but cooler temperatures can be a relief after a hot summer. It's usually not too cold, yet enough chill to break out the light jackets - I enjoy the cooler temperatures and am always excited with the idea of feeling snugly in sweaters.
Preparing for the Holidays
Recollections of raking the leaves and then jumping in the piles as a child...fun times. Then there is the smell of apple cinnamon, pumpkin pie and peach cobbler. They all somehow make me think of the ones I love.
Traditionally, autumn brings in the harvest. It's a time to gather and count your blessings.
When I think of autumn, I can't help but to think of pumpkins. Though they're displayed in the stores, I like going to the pumpkin patch. It can be a good activity to do with children too as they get to ride on a wagon and pick out a pumpkin for themselves.
The fall season the perfect time to go on a retreat. Just picture being in a nice cabin with your significant other and/or friends; Together to enjoy the breeze, beautiful scenery and the aroma of autumn in the air.
Decorating for the Fall
I love bringing a little bit of outside in by decorating my home with colors of nature. Although I admit that winter is my favorite season overall, I enjoy decorating for the autumn season best. The colors are all so warming and make a cozy environment.
One More Thing About Autumn
Most of all, when I think of the season change, I also take time to think about how the seasons of life change. As beautiful as the colors are, the leaves do have to fall in order to prepare for winter. After winter creeps in, spring blossoms and summer soon follows...Then the cycle repeats.
Life is full of seasons; challenges, ups and down. Somehow I make it through every season, and every time I learn something from the previous. Year round and year after year, I have a lot to thank God for.
