Bengali Language

Bengali Language is the native tongue of Bangladesh and the Indian state of Went Bengal. It is also spoken in other state like the West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Orissa and Bihar. This transition is because of the lot of divisions over the years. Even recently it is been spoken in Jharkhand after they have been partitioned. Some of the other people living in Mumbai, Chennai and New Delhi speak Benagli. This is because lot of migrations occurred all over India after MNCs. Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai have a few prominent speakers too. Other than people in India, people in UK, USA, Arabia, Singapore, UAE, and Australia too speak Bengali. These are people who migrated to foreign nation for employment or for a living.

It is estimated that around 230 million people all over the world speak Bengali and hence it is ranked as the sixth best language among all the world languages. It was originated from the European, Iranian and the Aryan. They have also derived their language from Assamese. They have their own writing script too and that makes them very special among a few languages, which has this capability. Bengali is a variation of the Sanskrit language just like many other languages in India.

Bengali is a Nagari-derived script

History of Bengali is simple and short with old, middle and recent Bengali. The old Bengali was a complicated script mostly in Assam and Orissa. Later the middle Bengali evolved to give a much simpler form and structure to the writing script. Lot of enhancements in pronunciation occurred during this time. The final newer Bengali involves shortening of verbs and pronouns.

The formation of the Bengali characters is special in that they do not have any distinction between the upper and lower case letters. They are cursive script with signs representing nine vowels.

The pride of Bengali is that the national anthem of India is written in Bengali. Apart from Indian national anthem, the national anthem of Bangladesh is also in Bengali. The National anthem Jana Gana Mana and the national song Vande Mataram have not only triggered great action and national patriotism in the minds of people but they have also proven the love and affection of the Indian people.

After freedom, Bengali language grew to a freedom so that it could establish itself in newspapers. Several Bengali newspapers were published to make people aware of the world news. Anandabazar Patrika is one famous newspaper that publishes news daily in Bengali.

I appreciate your article written on Bengali Language. But I differ from you in many respects. I am a Bengali so I like to protest. You said “Bengali Language is the native tongue of the state Bangladesh. It is also spoken in other state like the West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Orissa and Bihar”. By saying so you have down graded the very importance of the center place of Bengali Language. It was Calcutta from where the different stages of the language was up graded starting from Bankim Chandra, Sarat Chandra till to the Noble Laureate Rabindra Nath Takor, the creator of Indian National Anthem.. You are wrong in saying ‘it is also spoken in other state like West Bengal’. It is the native language of West Bengal where Calcutta was the center place of Bengali culture. Rather it was followed in other parts of Bengal. It was also followed in Bangladesh which was formed by replacing the name East Pakistan, what was formed by the division of Bengal at the time of giving independence to India by the British Kingdom, bringing a tragedy in human history.

The matter is that where the largest Bengali population live in.The total Bengali population who live in many different states of India are not so large as those who are in Bangladesh.Bangladesh also the representative of the Bengali nation in the world. It is also the home of Bengali literature where West Bengal is being colonized by hindi and english culture.
