Practical Assignment 3
This assignment has various parts put together in my portfolio. I have explained each part very clearly in the following sections below.

Deliver the micro teaching practice session, demonstrating a selection of teaching and learning approaches to engage and motivate learners
You need to communicate appropriately and effectively with learners.
The first part of this assignment starts with my Tutor's observation report of my teaching session. It will have my name, the date when the session took place, the aim of the session, length of the session and the length of observation as to what my tutor observed at each duration. For e.g.,
7:27 - 7:30 pm Introduction
7:30 - 7:32 pm Objectives
7:32 - 7:38 pm Tutor talk etc.................
My tutor will also be checking to see if I checked on the environment and resources beforehand, if I took into account the health and safety issues, if I ensured that there were enough resources for all learners and if I had a session plan in hand.
The tutor will then observe how i delivered the session. They will check to see if I delivered an introduction, a main content and conclusion, if I established and maintained a rapport with the group, and also if I demonstrated knowledge of my subject. I will also be observed to see if I took into account different learning styles, if I used a range of activities as appropriate, if I used relevant resources as appropriate, if I communicated clearly and effectively, if I appeared confident and professional and if I took into account entitlement, equality, differentiation, inclusivity and diversity?
I will also be monitored to see if I asked questions and involved the individual group where appropriate, if I gave positive feedback where relevant, if I summarised the session, if i achieved my aim, objectives, learning outcomes, if I clear the area after the session, if I identify opportunities for learners to provide feedback and also if I evaluate the session.
The next section in this assignment is my self-evaluation form. I have scanned a copy below. The self evaluation has to be gathered from the feedback the peers / group gives you and you have to be honest. You can find a few samples on the Practical Assignment 5 section, from where I have gathered my evaluation.
Your tutor will also give examples of how the learning took place during the session, and write down an overall feedback from the observations he/she made.
The next section in this assignment is the handouts. My handouts were an exact printout of what I had on my powerpoint presentation, and the complete work can be found on the link below.
The next section is a small activity for the class, where I asked the learners to identify the four parts of an atom that were pointed out by arrows and also describe the electrical charges of the required structures. Please see image below
I also handed out a copy of the periodic table for the learners so they understand how different atoms or elements are arranged in the periodic table.

Assessment was done to include literacy and numeracy skills. The first assessment was asked to be done in a group, so that candidates can have a discussion before writing down the answers, which helps them improve their communication skills and the skills to get included. The second assessment is a small problem where they have to use their numeracy skills. That way the functional skills get embedded in teaching and learning process
