# Life Costs Money: Lots

## Misery vs Hope

The United States of America is considered the "Land of the Free," but freedom is expensive. Consider what it costs to live in America: Cell phone, internet,TV, and cable bills, health and car insurance bills, personal necessities, and entertainment, at a minimum, run us about \$2,000.00 a month or \$24,000.00 a year. And to die costs money: The average cost of the simplest of funerals is \$8,000.00 to \$10,000.00. A couple bags of groceries are approximately \$100.00 a week, \$400.00 a month or \$4,800.00 a year. Sleep costs money: The average rent is \$1,500.00 per month x 12 comes to \$18,000.00 a year. Producing art costs money when one considers that a single tube of acrylic paint is \$4.00, (on sale.) The whole set of 12 tubes costs about \$50.00. A canvas martix: \$24.00. A couple of good paint brushes: \$27.00. Approximate total per painting is about a hundred bucks, (not accounting for the time put into it.) Gas, electricity and water costs money, so does swimming. We are all working really hard to to pay for our freedom. We are born naked and eventually it is our turn to clothe ourselves. That costs money. How much do parents pay for the care of one child during his first 18 years? At \$12,000.00, (considering that it costs about \$1,000.00 per month per child,) x 18 = \$216,000.00! How much would one pay after 18 years of providing for a child, or two or three? Try \$200,000.00 x 3 = \$600,000.00! And that is on top of \$24,000.00, (living expenses) + \$4,800.00 (food) + \$1,800.00 (rent) = \$30,600.00 a year x 18 = \$540,000.00: just for the family to exist comfortably those eighteen plus years! (FYI 600,00.00 + 540,000.00 = \$1,140,000.00! So, having sex three times could end up costing more than a million dollars!

Parent/parents should be prepared to spend \$12,000.00 more per child the first year and more as the years go by.... especially around birthdays and holidays. That first year will cost approximately \$31,000.00+ \$12,000.00= \$43,000.00 which in all actuality is a very low estimate. Then you will be taxed. Hint: The more you earn the more you will be taxed. So you can't make too much and you can't make too little.

Furthermore, to bring a child into this world is to bring him into a land of uncertainty, hardships, misery on many levels, endless irritations, danger, injustice, cruelty, and the demands of needy people, pets and problems. The question never asked is, "Is there a safe way out, (excluding suicide?)" There has to be! There just has to be, but no one looks for it... Instead, the majority miraculously endure, meet their challenges and in so doing, find joy!

I know a woman my age with a daughter of 27 still living at home. Why hasn't the daughter left? We do not know. She has a good job. But now she is pregnant and plans to raise the baby at home in her own room. One hates to be negative about the situation. The joy of birth is universal. We humans are so magical, it is amazing.

I would like to say that every single one of us is so spiritual and magical, but we all know that is not true. We know people who have lost their humanity and who have gone "bad." How can this occurrence be prevented? That is a question for the psychologists. Another question is, how can there be so many people who have gone "good?" When one considers the odds! It is sheer magic that joy does continue to percolate within each one of us. This joy must be protected in our children, who are born with it. If we have temporarily lost it, we must rekindle it within ourselves, especially when we are around our children. Without joy we are a doomed nation. It is this author's hope that all parents, teachers, and caretakers of children will instill within them an attitude of hopefulness. Positivity and faith is vital for all of us. In this "Land of the Free," it is required that we cultivate what is needed in order to also be "The Home of The Brave."

Survival costs money everywhere, and survival with little respectability costs even more. But I find from your statistics that to live in America with the prevailing lifestyle there is costlier than India where you are forced to live without facilities considered necessary for a humane life. But surely there are more opportunities in America to earn for survival. In India even such opportunities are missing.

My next article will be about striving to enjoy your path of financial success by choosing it according to one's interests. One can loose contact with the self in all this striving. How to stay connected to the self while earning a living is what I would like to explore.

Despite the seriousness of the subject, you managed to incorporate humor in your very interesting piece of writing. I never looked as sex as ending up costing me in the hundreds of thousands... This being said, I spend several months in Europe every year and I can assure you, the cost of living over there is way higher than in the US, even though everything here is costing more and more without real justifiaction. I do share your concern about bringing up children in this day and age. Not because of the cost, but the uncertainty of the future is worrying me. Excellent and enjoyable writing

Yes winter is coming. Hitler came during a generational season of Winter. The souls incarnating now are going to be strong enough to pull us through. I believe that America is destined to survive and renew. Let Them come come on in! Thanks for your feedback!

Thank You, David Righthand! But, this is where miracles come in handy... So many people don't believe in miracles! Actually, I have come to realize that through daily miracles we survive. Knowing this we can live bravely, (if not as proactively as we should!)

BTW

We should seek Life, within and without, to bail us out when we need help to survive...Not the government!
