I Should of Been a Race Car Driver

Only One Way To Win

Buckle up and enjoy the race of your life

Any second could be the beginning or the end

I have chosen this life and I feel the adrenaline rush

Others watch as spectators but they will never know the thrill

Of my heart pounding outside my chest

Everything I have is on the line

Everytime I climb in

The littlest mistake could cost me my life

Why did I chose a life of such desire?

What is in my soul that I don't know how to acquire?

I have been lucky many times in the past

Will my luck run out as I am going lap after lap just a little to fast

What happens if I have one bad day?

Is today the day I will cash in all my chips

In a pile of rubble I will lay

Will I be victorious one more time

Can I reach a new high speed?

Am I getting to old for this?

Have I lost my courage and nerves of steel?

There are no second chances

The thrill of the engines racing

The sound of the crowds cheer

I have my heart set on one goal

No one else seems to follow in my footsteps

I am alone in my journey

I risk everything for a pleasure beyond measure

The pain I suffer if I make a mistake

It could cost others their lives and careers

I depend on a special team who keep me on target

I have little time to calculate

No time to make ammends

I live on instinct and sharp intuition

My days are numbered

I can't see until the smoke clears

I will walk away while I still can

I have battled a race I can't always win

It is time to take a new direction

Instead of going round and round

I have to climb out of my safety net

Take of my helmet and gear

Look around and see something I have never noticed

The sun trying to shine even though it is raining

I time to put the past behind me

A time to cheerish the joys before me

I take a deep breath and fill my lungs with oxygen

This is my life I have been given

The race will be over soon and it is the first I did not enter

I feel uneasy and sad

I should feel safe and glad

A time to live and a time to watch with heart felt anticipation

Others who will also go on to wonderful victories and heartbreaks

I have patience and some uncanny perserveriance

To handle my life

With all its handicaps and tragedies

For I forcast a brighter future

No matter how hard it rains

Darlene Sabella I am so happy to hear from you at all hours of the day.I have been writing alot lately.I miss talking to you.I often go to sleep and have your family in my prayers.I hope you can feel my kindness and spirit. You have helped me grow and write better.I often run out of time and want to do so much more.I am struggling with old issues of time management and priorities.Family matters seem to over ride what I really want to do.I will check for your message.Good morning to you and I hope today is a breeze.
