Is Modern Style Education System Required in India

Updated on July 7, 2011

Indian education was always known for its strong base. Students in India study various subjects and learn basics of each subject. Due to this very strong base, Indian students shine everywhere. One can see many Indians working with top notch organizations around the world; be it NASA, Google or Microsoft, you will find Indians everywhere.

Current Education System in India

With the advancement of the time, Indian education system is changing and now several schools have started adopting western style teaching methods. Schools in India are now teaching various different extra-curricular activities like dancing, acting, swimming, horse riding, skating and several others to make the child more active. It is really good to have an active kid, but most schools forget to concentrate much on primary education. They do not want to pressurize the kids by too much of academics and feels that activeness is more required than strong academic background.

History of Indian Education

Not many people know that the first ever university was resided in India itself, known by the name ‘Takshashila’. Here, students from various countries used to come for higher studies and learnt the great skills from Indian gurus. They then used those skills in their own countries for the betterment and now we need to go to other countries in order to get educated.

In the earlier days, schools were there to educate the child, but now it seems schools are simply running a business to attract parents by showing them different activities their child can learn along with a good infrastructure. And parents also forget about their child’s future and become satisfied by seeing their kid going to school happily. When a child will not have much to study, not much homework and almost no pressure towards studies, then why will he/she does not enjoy going to school.

Importance of Primary Education

Do you think, if your child will not have clear fundamentals and never exercise pressure towards primary education, can he/she easily crack IITs, IIMs or medical examinations. I do understand there are many other streams available besides these traditional choices, but these are still the core streams for professional education. Without Engineers and Doctors, how could you have used Mobile phones, there would have been no Internet, no prevention for any diseases and no other technological innovations. So, to create a better future, we need strong academic background and quality under-graduation schools. To make the best use of advancement in technology, schools must utilize these tools to give the best of education. Schools can provide the best of academics by introducing technology in education system and citing live examples to help students learn effectively and make use of internet to get the best education materials.

If you do not give your child the opportunity to study in a studious environment, how you and your child will come to know whether he/she wants to make a career by undergoing professional courses or not. If you will put your child in western-friendly environment, the child will not able to understand his desires/interests and the importance of primary education. Also, the child will not get the guidance he/she actually needs from an experienced teacher.

So, if you want to see more people like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. CV Raman and other great scientists, I will urge you to put your child in a school which also focuses on teaching strong academics and not just extra-curricular activities. If we will not create strong minds for future, then we will become totally dependent on western countries for any advancement, and as a result the economy of the country will also suffer. So, whenever you search school for your beloved kid, do not simply search for Air-Conditioned class rooms, rather search for schools with better academics record and quality education.
