Learning Challenges Faced by Children of Today
Many of us when we were young, we just cannot keep still. We have to move or cannot keep still for too long. ADHD was not a term we used to use for people who are hyperactive. But today with advance researches, scientists begin to understand how the brain works. Which part of the brain is capable of performing a certain task, can be experimented.
Disorders and Learning Challeges
It is definitely not easy for parents of children who are diagnosed with the following
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Dyslexia
- Cerebral Palsy
- Autism
- Asperger Syndrome
- Dyspraxia
- Sensory Integration Dysfunction
- Co-Morbidity
Helping Challenging Children
Some of these children can be helped, some may not be able to respond to any psychological supprt or whatever process you put the child through. Parents may be able to support and help the child to progress well in development, and to be able to integrate into the society better. If they are able to notice or get early diagnosis of such disorders or syndromes.
The earlier the child's condition is known, the earlier treatment can be administered. This will help the child to develop better, and be able to learn well, associate with others without problem, participate in normal activities with friends around him or her. I have come across parents who are in self denial, not willing to accept that the child is not very normal. It was years later that they finally acknowledged, and it becomes a little late for a proper treatment.
There are special programs to train people who are passionate about helping such kind of children. If you are passionate about this, please look up to magazines and internet that are able to help you get proper training to manage such kind of children.
