Life 101 - Chasing Dreams

Resolutions for 2014

Starting a year of another existence in this world will see me bridging my past to my present and future plans.

It will involve a lot of thinking, cautious moves or actions that will not only benefit me but the persons (family members, friends and even enemies) around my jurisdiction.

Why am I saying this, in this platform of writing community?

HubPages online writing site is not only a peaceful niche in the cyberspace but also provides vast opportunities to chase and catch my dreams, at the same time.

Perhaps, a blogger and a hubber that are personified as one inside my mind will continue to tweak topics that are important to me and happening in my horizon, particularly in my country.

As hopes of revealing truths, news and contributing-affecting-influencing other hubbers, continue to build and burst out through successfully published hubs in my site, I am more driven to contribute more in order to fulfill my goals this year.

My goals will be divided into my personal and public lives.

  • Whereas, my personal dreams to improve my stature in the eyes of the Almighty (my faith), my family and friends;
  • and as a public figure, I'll make my 300 per cent dedication to my job, to my collagues and my company as well as in this writing community.

I've been reaping the samples of my much-awaited 'fruits of toil', since I joined here.

Really, if one will search the achievements of this hubber, I hope it will inspire you to do the same in this field of endeavor.

A lot of possibilities will come your way once you toil hard for it, with dedication and resiliency.

Looking at the brighter side

Why Chase Dreams?

Ever since the Icarus days in Greek mythology, I've been aspiring to also chase and catch my own dreams.

All of us are dreamers. In our unguarded moments, we usually dream of the impossible.

Like, for instance, to travel the whole world, it's part of being human.

In our level of consciousness, we agree that it's free to dream.

Failures beacon in almost fifty per cent of those goals, but the remaining successful outputs were achieved in God's time.

Literally, I always dream of flying during my teenage years.

Just like Joseph, the Great Dreamer ( and interpreter in biblical times), I knew that those flying moments and episodes whenever I sleep will mean achieving whatever aspirations I had in mind.

If I couple it with careful planning and thorough action, it will be fulfilled unexpectedly.

Most of us blame God whenever failure and disappointment come in our lives.

In our growing years, when our parents can't provide our wants, we tend to rebel from them.

And in later years, when we were in their shoes already, we will regret those hateful words we shouted at them.

Dreams are already in us, since we were born. I think, it is already programmed inside us. It's up to us to make it a reality.

Collin McLoughlin - Chasing Dreams (Original) c/o Collin McLoughlin

Persuading others to chase their dreams

(Update: January 31, 2014)

I had a sort of orientation-telling-a-personal-story episode with the son of my cousin, who happened to be a principal at the elementary school in our town.

He didn't know that his parents had set me up to visit their new home at the upscale subdivision in the city. My mission: persuade him to finish his course as a bachelor's degree holder.

My words flowed smoothly from the start of greeting him and remarking about their new home.

Then, one by one, I told him my personal plight of getting my initial job as radio drama talent before graduating high school and how I dealt with juggling my time as working student during my college years.

I also told him my re-invention scheme as I widened my horizon and embarked to a new career as a seafarer.

There, during that point, his eyes lit up, since her parents requested me to inspire him in getting ready to enroll at the apprenticeship program of the maritime school, where he recently graduated as Associate in Marine Engineering.

From then on, I shared episodes of anecdotes and stories of being a seafarer.

Lastly, while eating the lunch he offered me, he asked about my company and its apprenticeship program with enthusiasm.

In conclusion, from what I saw in him, he will start to spread his wings and start chasing his dreams this year.

His reluctance to apply at shipping companies well vanish because of the support system he realized which is waiting at his side.

The help coming from his parents and from his relatives, like me will direct him to the path he chooses to walk by for his better and secured future.

Unexpectedly...A Poem, A Song

The third day of January 2014, saw me jotting notes and made it into a poem.

But wait, unexpectedly it became a song of hope for me this year.

This composition renewed my hope to meet my future partner, since the demise of my past love.

I know it will be tricky these days, since this generation will always outdo the past one, where I'm part of it.

It's hard to find a lifetime partner but this song makes me optimistic that I will meet her this year.

UNEXPECTEDLY

Music & Lyrics by Ireno A. Alcala

With just a glance of your sparkling eyes

A smile which makes my heart drum faster

Turning my life into three sixty degrees

Changing my point of view about this wonderful world.

My vision is back into twenty-twenty

The colors are vivid again since the time we’ve been together

You’re such a breath of fresh air to me

Clearing my mind from cobwebs of my dark past.

You, repainted my world

Creating a beautiful canvass of ourselves

Where the two of us in a happy portrait

Where love is depicted unexpectedly

WE’LL WRITE THE NEXT CHAPTERS OF OUR NEWFOUND LOVE STORY

WITH THE GUIDING HANDS OF GOD, I KNOW WE’LL MAKE IT RIGHT

WE’LL HOLD ON TOGETHER AS WE BUILD OUR FAMILY

I KNOW WE’LL MAKE IT THROUGH ‘CAUSE OUR LOVE GROWS UNEXPECTEDLY.

We’ll stick together, for better or for worse

‘til the end of time.

write your dreams down. Place it by your bedside. Look at it before bed and after you awaken to reaffirm. You may be surprised, that you actually fulfill one or two of those dreams. We think, we draw to us and we attract what we want, just as we repeal, negate and throw away what we really want. Happy dreaming..I need to make mine a reality.
