Learn Spanish with Music. "Me Voy" by Julieta Venegas lyrics with English Translation

A Fun Way To Learn

Some days ago I was searching for a music video for the song "Eres Para Mi" by Julieta Venegas, I was intrigued when I stumbled across a cover video for it from a girl playing her guitar to this song, even though her primary language is English. Through the music, the rhythm, and with it's repetition of lyrics, I figured it could be a fun, easy way to learn a new word or a phrase and pick up the sounds and pronunciations.

Also I reasoned that, if you're trying to learn a new language, you acquaint yourself with the culture as well. And what culture doesn't embrace music in it's native language?

Being of Spanish descent, the language comes naturally and fluidly to me, though English is what I predominantly speak and write.

I hope to introduce you to popular Spanish songs and it's lyrics with the English translation to follow it. I followed the words closely so that the translation suits each language both literal and figurative meanings and how it pertains to the song.

I was not particular about the song choice, or simply it just happens to be one of my favorites songs from this unique artist and the video happens to be cute.

Hope you enjoy.

"Me Voy" by Julieta Venegas

Porque no supiste entender a mi corazón
Because you did not know how to understand my heart

lo que había en el porque no
what was in it Because you did not

tuviste el valor de ver quien soy
have courage to see who I am

Because you do not listen to what is so near you

sólo el ruido de afuera y yo
only the noise outside and I

who am on the side dissappear to you

I will not cry and say that I do not deserve this

because it's probable I deserve it but I don't want it

That's why I'm leaving what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti y me voy
I bid you farewell and I'll go

What a pity but goodbye I bid you farewell

Porque se que me espera algo mejor
Because I know something better awaits me

alguien que sepa darme amor
Somebody who will know how to give me love

the kind that sweetens the salt and makes the sun come out

I, who, thought would never go away from you

that it's the good kind of love, for all of life

but today I understood it's not sufficient for both of us

I will not cry and say that I do not deserve this

because it's probable I deserve it but I don't want it

That's why I'm leaving, what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti y me voy
I bid you farewell and I'll go

what a pity but goodbye I bid you farewell

Me voy que lastima pero adios
I'll go what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti y me voy
I bid you farewell and I'll go

que lastima pero adios
what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti y me voy
I bid you farewell and I'll go

que lastima pero adios
what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti
I bid you farewell

me voy
I'll go

que lastima pero adios
what a pity but goodbye

me despido de ti
I bid you farewell (or Farewell to you)

me voy
I'll go (or I'm Leaving)

Track from the Album: Limon Y Sal
