Preschool Songs for Kids- Songs and Rhymes About Christmas

Christmas Season

The Christmas season is a time filled with food, family and fun. Along with that come the beauty of songs and music. Most people know the more traditional Christmas songs, but here are some great songs and rhymes that are a little different, yet just as much fun!

These songs and rhymes are perfect for a preschool or early elementary classroom or just to sing at home.

Songs About Santa

The first two songs are about the big guy, Santa. They are both very cute and will have your kids humming a merry tune all day long.

Where is Santa?

This is one of my favorites and one that my kids love to sing each year.

*Sung to the tune of Frere Jacques

Where is Santa? Where is Santa?

Here I am! Here I am!

Merry, Merry Christmas!

Merry, Merry Christmas!

Ho-ho-ho! Ho-ho-ho!

Cookies for Santa

*This song is sung to the tune of Peanut Butter and Jelly

First you take the batter and you stir it, you stir it,

First you take the batter and you stir it, you stir it,

Christmas cookies, Christmas cookies, cookies for Santa!

Christmas cookies, Christmas cookies, cookies for Santa!

Then you take the dough, and you roll it, you roll it.

Next you take the cutters and you press them, you press them.

Then you take the shapes and you bake them, you bake them.

Now you take some frosting and you spread it, you spread it.

Then you take some sprinkles and you shake them, you shake them.

Then you take your cookie and you eat it, you eat it! Yum! Yum!

Songs About Bells and Reindeer

The next few songs address the additional things that are present during the holiday season. The reindeer and the bell are both very important parts of the Christmas holiday.

Five Little Reindeer

Five little reindeer playing in the snow.

The first one said, "Let's go, go, go!"

The second one said, "I see snowflakes in the air."

The third one said, "Santa won't care!"

The fourth one said, "Isn't Christmastime fun?"

The fifth one said, "Let's run and run and run!"

The, "Ooooh," went the wind and out went the lights.

So Santa and his reindeer flew out of sight!

Jingle, Jingle LIttle Bells

*Sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Jingle, jingle, little bell

I can ring my little bell.

Ring it high. Ring it low.

Ring it fast. Ring it slow.

Jingle, jingle little bell,

I can ring my little bell.

Jingle, jingle little bell.

I can ring my little bell.

Ring it left. Ring it right.

Even ring it out of sight.

Jingle, jingle, little bell

I can ring my little bell.

Reindeer Pokey

(Like the Hokey Pokey only using reindder)

You put your antlers in, You put your antlers out.

You put your antlers in and you shake them all about.

You do the Reindeer Pokey and you turn yourself around

That's what it is all about!

**Repeat each time with the following phrases substituting for antlers.

You put your hooves in...

You put your red nose in...

You put your reindeer body in...

In a Little Stable

In a little stable

Far across the sea,

Was a little baby

Just like you and me.

Not a bed or cradle,

Not a pillow deep,

But a lowly manger

Was his place to sleep.

Christmas Songs About Jesus

Of course the whole reason for the celebration of Christmas is the birth of the Lord Jesus. Here are a couple of different songs that celebrate his arrival.

Birth of Jesus Finger Rhyme

This is Joseph and this is Mary.

("Walk" with fingers.)

See how they look so very weary.

(Hang head.)

Knock, knock, knock at the innkeeper's door.

(Knock in the air.)

He shakes his head, no room for more.

(Shake head)

Go to the stable where the animals stay.

(Point off.)

You will find a place to sleep in the hay.

(Rest had on hands.)

Quietly cone to the manger and see,

(Fingers in front of your mouth.)

The baby Jesus, God sent for you and me.

(Cradle with arms.)

Cara, these are cute songs for the holidays. I can just imagine those two adorable cuties singing these and doing the movements to them. My favorite was the reindeer pokey, ha ha. I hope you add the video of them singing. Maybe Grace can wear antlers and put a beard on Alex! LOL Rated up./I/U

Bravo, Grace and Alex. Thanks for sharing the video. They did a good job, (and I noticed Charlie Raisin trying to get in on the action, ha ha). Rated up / F I didn't see those reindeer antlers on their heads when they sang. :)
