Survival Bag Overview
Survival Bag Overview
Emergencies & natural disasters can happen in a moment’s notice. There will be little time to prepare your survival bag once the event happens. You will likely not have time to run around and gather the necessary materials to place in your survival bag you will need to live on for a few days after the fact. If there is a power outage, most (if not all) stores will be closed and you will not be able to purchase the items you need for your survival bag, or have access to your cash from ATMs that are down.
This is why it is necessary to get your necessary survival bag items now, before an emergency or disaster occurs. Many items can be found around the house, or purchased from your local stores rather cheaply. Once you have your survival bag put together, it will be ready to be picked up quickly and used.
You should have a survival bag for each person of your family. Tailor each bag to fit the needs of each family member. For kids, pack comfort items like games, snacks, paper, pens & markers. For adults, make sure you have identification, extra cash, & medications.
Each survival bag should contain the basics for at least 3 days that include food & water, shelter, heat, light, comfort, communication & first aid. Check your survival bags often to make sure nothing is expired, and if found, replace immediately.
A well maintained survival bag always ready to go will be just the thing you need during an emergency. If you have an incident that you must be moved quickly (tornado, flood, etc), you can just grab & go and your immediate needs will be taken care of in the short term until you can make more permanent arrangements.
