True Friends

Dog..if only a man could be so respectable,

In the honor that you so show,

in the respectability that you have,

In your devotion,

in your wisdom,

in your acceptability,

In your unswerving allegiance,

in your innocence,

in your humbleness,

in your disposition,

in your gentleness,

in your fierce determination,

in your protectiveness,

in your justifiable intelligence,

in your knowledge of love,

and in your capacity to win hearts.

Dog of mine, I love you, and need your attention,

Few have what is called, real devotion,

I so love your gratitude,

I so love your plain appearance, yet quiet beauty,

I so love your acts of respect and care.

If only a man had your truth and faith,

if only a man had your ability to survive,

and if a man was as humane as you, my canine friend.

In you, I find hope, and a desire to go on,

for it is in you that all life.. has true respect and meaning.

In you is seen the true meaning of the regal, the kingly..and

Few other creatures have such brilliance and attractiveness.

Dog..you are one of the grandest of all of God's creatures.

Our trusted and loyal companions, the pups. They ask little and give so much. We would do well to model our lives after these amazing creatures. I do not have a pup right now. My last pup died and I have not found another to replace him yet. I have the other little furry thing that feels the need in me....a kitty.

And a hope to go on...well chosen words to describe the love and respect you feel for such an amazing creature. Voted beautiful

very touching and very true. A dog gives unconditional love and they're so deserving to be loved as much in return. thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed the read and where it brought me. voted up and beautiful.

Thanks moonfairy, iam so glad you appreciated this work. I felt compelled to write it upon seeing the horrible figure of a dog impelled upon wood and debris across the road from my home, that some careless and stupid individual had done and left to the winds. It made me sad and emotionally upset and brought about memories of my animals so cherished over the years.

Thanks Epi, I can identify about being owned by a pet. I wanted to show love of the critters and why they are in many ways superior to us human types in many ways. Thanks again.

Dear whonunuwho, This touches me deeply. I lost my beloved Scottish Terrier, MacGregor, a little over a month ago to bladder cancer. Everyday, when I see his beautiful face in the painting I did of him a few years ago, his eyes speak to me. Yesterday was very difficult for me, as it would have been MacGregor's 9th birthday. I believe he just visited me through your beautiful, honorable words that so eloquently speaks to the devotion, loyalty and love within all canines. Thank you

Yes, we all have had friends that passed on and what's amazing, I often feel their presence, especially when I am feeling down.

I really love your post on the Dog. I believe they are truly man's best friend. I have had several of these in my lifetime and each one was unique, provided loyalty and love. Lovely pictures to enhance the poem as well. Voted up.

Thanks teaches, it is so nice that we have a creature so devoted to us and never question who we are, and any love we show is so cherished.

The poem is beautiful and the message very important. So many humans have lost all respect for the life in animals. Dogs are such great friends when allowed to be themselves. I also believe God created them to be extra close to humans.

Thanks Hyphenbird. I felt compelled to write about my canine friends and how they are so loved.

This definitely gets a beautiful vote from me. Dogs don't care what people look like or measure people by their wealth. They are such faithful and loving companions. If only more people could be like them, the world would be a better place. Enjoyed your poetry and artwork very much. It aptly portrayed your sentiments of which I share.

Thank you Peggy. I, too, am a dog lover as is my entire family. We can learn so much from our own animals about the ways that creatures on this earth are supposed to behave.
