Paying Your DC Traffic Ticket In-Person

If you are paying your DC traffic ticket in-person go to the DC DMV.  Make sure you have your traffic violation with you.  The DC DMV accepts 4 forms of payments.

DC DMV Acceptable Forms of Payments

  1. Cash
  2. Check
  3. Money Order
  4. Credit Card (excluding American Express)

Along with an acceptable form of payment and your traffic ticket report to the cashier to pay your ticket.

Paying Your DC Traffic Ticket Online

If you are paying your DC traffic ticket online be sure to have your credit card and traffic ticket available.  Follow the online payment instructions.

Paying Your DC Traffic Ticket By Mail

If you are paying your DC traffic ticket by mail remember not to send cash. Use either a check or money order payable to: DC Treasurer (write the ticket number in the memo section of your check). Mail the payment and traffic ticket to the correct mailing address.

Fighting Your DC Parking Ticket

You have 60 calendar days to contest a DC parking ticket.  On the back of the traffic ticket is a form that should be completed a mailed to:

Be sure to check "Deny" in the appropriate spot.  Within six to eight weeks you will be notified of your court date.  You can also drop off your completed traffic ticket in-person to the DC DMV to be assigned a court date.

Fighting Your DC Minor Violation Traffic Ticket

You have 30 calendar days to contest a minor moving violation.  Do not pay your ticket if you are contesting it.  As above, complete the form on the back of the traffic violation and complete a written request.  Mail to the same address listed above.  Within six to eight weeks you will be notified of your court date.

Fighting Your DC Photo Enforcement Traffic Ticket

You have 30 calendar days to contest a photo enforcement traffic ticket.  Photo enforcement traffic tickets are different than traditional tickets.  Complete the form on the ticket by checking the box "I Deny Commission of the Infraction" -- mail the traffic ticket to:
