What the Bleep Do We Know!-Can You Change Your Everyday Reality?

What if I tell you that you can change your everyday reality. Have I changed mine? To some extend - yes.

One of the mind-boggling theories in "What the Bleep Do We Know" is that we create the world we perceive. Note I say perceive, we don't just see the world around us, we see the image of reality that our brain has built up from sensory input and the numerous associations that we draw from the neural networks of our brain. In other words it depends what our experiences have been.

Understanding how emotions guide your perception

Emotion is something we built during our lifespan. Emotions are created via our experiences and events that happen over and over again. Dr. Pert's research at the NIH suggests that it is not only what we believe is real, but also how we feel about what our senses are picking up, that determines how and if we are going to perceive it. In other words our emotions have built such strong networks in our brain, that they decide what is worth paying attention to and what is not.

Why does my three year old says the cloud in the sky is winking at her, but yet I think that I need another cup of coffee?

So authors of the book further state that when you open your eyes in the morning and look around, it is not "the world" that you see, instead is the world that your human senses are able to see, the world that your belief system allows you to see, and the world that your emotions care about seeing or NOT seeing.

Even though there is a real world that we all see and agree on, it is very often that people perceive the same things very differently. Doesn't that happen every time when you have an argument with your spouse for example. It's always the same story perceived in two different way - "I did not yell until - YES, you did, I was not really that upset - You were furious, I DID NOT use these words - Yes, you did, I heard you" The strange phenomenon here is that even though both parties remember the cause of the argument, they each have their own story (which they truly believe to be real) of that happened.

In quantum physics (I would not even dare going into this branch of science), the observer influences the object observed. Without going into a deliberate explanation of what this means (I could only throw my wild guess of how I understand this), I can become my own observer, it's like nonjudgmental+ly observing myself, my feelings, my emotions, my perceptions. Try it. It's hard to do, but once you can do it, you will be amazed as to what you find about yourself.

Each one of us is the observer. How much does the observer affect the observed? According to theoretical physicist Fred Alan Wolf - You are not changing the reality out there. "You are not changing chairs and big trucks and rockets taking off. But you are changing how you perceive things, or maybe how you think about things, how you feel about things, how you sense the world".

I still don't see the cloud winking, but I can see it has the shape of a bird now.

Is Changing Your Everyday Reality Possible?

Ultimately, the answer lays down in you own memories, perceptions and observations. It's not so much changing your everyday reality as keeping your reality the same or not.

Memory (past) - Perception - Observation - (affecting) Reality

Does Mind Over Matter Actually Happen?

Now that we know that the observer (we) can change the observed (reality) in one way or another, we can ask ourselves how much and what can we change.

Dr. Masaro Emoto' book The Hidden Messages in Water features stunning photographs showing frozen water crystals. Dr. Emoto put signs on bottles of water that expressed human emotions and ideas. Some of them were positive such as "Thank you" and "Love". Others had signs that read negative thoughts. The water with the positive messages formed beautiful crystals, the water with the negative messages became ugly and malformed.

What The Bleep Do We Know--Addiction Clip Interview with Dr. Joe Dispenza

If you can't control your emotional state, you must be addicted to it.

Part of "What the Bleep Do We Know" looks into the theory that we are addicted to our own emotions. Realizing the chemistry behind that (watch the video above) is an eye opening experience for all of us. For many of us that would be one of the best part of this book, and if we can't get anything else out of it simply because is too quantum or straight crazy, we should all read the chapters on emotions and addictions.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • Same situations over and over (that would be me)
  • Inability to change
  • Saying you will never do something ever agin, then hours later doing it
  • Voices in the head saying "I want, Give me."
  • Feeling helpless to create something new

Science tells us what is possible, Really?

People usually do not like to try what they believe to be impossible. Not to mention that our immediate family might sometimes profoundly disagree if we try to implement any change, let alone a crazy and sudden release of emotions that sets us free.

What is the definition of a miracle? According to Dr. Joe Dispenza - Something that happens outside of convention, outside of the box of what's socially, scientifically or religiously acceptable. And right outside the box is where human potential exists. How do we get there? We have to overcome the emotional states that we live in on a daily basis. Our own personal doubt. Our own unworthiness. Our own voices that say we are not good enough or it's impossible.

Quantum theory says that it IS possible for you, your body and the chair you sit in for no obvious reason to be on the other side of the world. The probability is ten to minus gazillion, but it's not zero. People fundamentally understand this.....that is why you are clutching onto that lotto ticket, desperately hanging onto every number read on the ACTION NEWS at 10!!!  You virtually have zero chance of winning.  But it ain't ZERO chance.
