You May Have Epilepsy But It Does Not Have You

Epilepsy Does Not End Everything.

When you have seizures, let yourself rest.

When you don't have seizures, let yourself fly.

Things you do can be wonderful, even if they are small.

Like smelling a rose, or looking at stars in the sky.

Touching your child, just the hair on her head.

Holding hands in the twilight, with someone you love.

Laughing at jokes, you have already heard.

Planting a garden, when the sun is in the sky.

Loving your family, knowing they love you too.

Remember your life hasn't stopped, or left you alone.

So please keep doing the things you can do.

Because you have epilepsy, it does not have you.

North Wind thank you. I have been feeling well, but something interesting has happened. I have been praying a lot for God to show me what He want me to do. I have met 3 people who have epilepsy. We now get together a few times a week and just talk and have a snack and joke around. I believe God answered my prayer, He is not just helping me, but He is helping all 4 of us.

That is great news Michele! I am so very glad you have been given this wonderful gift. He really works in mysterious ways!

I just wanted to add that I will wear purple on March 26th, praying for you from my corner :)

Ah, the lady is a poet too!! Fun isn't it? That's why I do it. It relaxes me and helps me after seizures. Ironically, I had a surprise seizure yesterday. It was a sleep seizure, Grand Maul, hadn't had one in quite a while. Jerked my entire body all around as I got up. My back, arms and chest all sore but I seemed to recover fast. I am told the increased solar activity is having an effect on all people with neurological problems including epilepsy. I loved this poem and the video and as usual appreciate you addressing the subject of epilepsy. Everything you said in the poem is so true, so very true. Great job and I want to see more of that poet side. I voted UP all across except for funny. God bless, you continue in my prayers, Lee

Oh, Lee I am so sorry! I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Also, thank you for the complement about the poetry. You are a good example to follow.

Thanks for the comment.

A great message delivered beautifully. I had a friend growing up who had epilepsy and he handled it beautifully. I love this hub; very human, strong and hopeful.
