If the photos from our previous hubs are from google search, will we have to change all of them...
because of the new copyright rule?
I know it's not new, I was just unaware of it until I got the recent email about it.
Also, would it be ok for me to take pictures of a video game as I play, or would that also be illegal??
First: what new copyright rule?
Second: No changes should be necessary if done before any rule change.
Third: Using images from Google Images is OK ,under certain conditions; the image is not claimed as yours,it has no copyright symbols or words indicating such copyright or prohibited use,one does not directly benefit from its use,it's used in a review, critique (technical),instruction,or comparison, one does not critique the photographer/image's intention, (technical critique is OK), the image is relevant to the article, the image is not taken directly from the owner's site (indexed sites are OK)
NOTE: the simple act of viewing an image is a copyright in itself, since your hard drive downloads the image, albeit temporarily.
You should try to always include credits as a common courtesy, which also serves to indicate that you are not claiming ownership.
Hi, thanks for your information. But pls help me, i couldnt fully understnd how i may be able to know which image is having copyright or not. whichever image i took, i am seeing the message on the right side that "Images may be subject to copyright."
Actually, using images found via Google is generally not ok - most are copyrighted. You need to find the original photographer/source, and either get permission, or make sure it's allowed to use the photo on a commercial site. Otherwise, avoid them!
Thanks LuisEGonzalez. I'm pretty sure it's not new, I just got an email about it not too long ago
I don't know if they will have to be changed. Sorry. However, you might want to try Wikimedia Commons. They have lots of pictures that people have put on there to use how you want. It is where I get all my pictures, unless I take them myself. Which is rare.
Screen shots of a game are covered by the game's producer. You would need to get permission (from Sony, Electronic Arts, or whoever owns the game) in order to publish them.

It is discouraging to find yet another website which has copied pictures of my family, my pets, my articles, used my titles and created a website that impersonates me. Today I've already wasted a couple of hours researching their host site and filing the appropriate DMCA Takedown Notices. When I did...

I'm worried about the copywrite issues involved with pictures and videos that I obtain on the web. How do I know if an image that I find on Google images is copywrited?...

Why do some hubbers have their photos in the Google search results?Often when searching on Google a hub is in the search results. Sometimes the hubbers profile picture is in the search results. Why does this happen for some hubbers and not others?
