Honestly, who do you remember more, the "terror" teacher or the teacher who always smiled at you?
The teacher that always' smiled at me.........She was so Hot I will never forget Her.
Weeeeell, i think the "terror" teacher...i wish i could have had the courage to bash his head in with the trash basket
For me, the TERROR teacher of all times. Hahaha. Sounds funny, but yes, I remember more my terror teacher when I was in high school because anything I do, she always call me and say anything in front of my class, like sometimes, it is very embarrassing.
The terror teacher! My mother always reminds me of the teachers who would make me come home and scream, She hates me! These were the ones that saw my potential (for the most part) and wanted me to see it for myself.
Then there was that one that just genuinely hated me and giving me any grade above a C was asking entirely too much.
I remember both equally. However, the "terror" teacher made me wonder why she was like that and the teacher who smiled at me, encouraged me and saw my potential was and still is a great memory. They were both learning experiences.
The previous comment caught me. ;-) I may remember my smiling teacher, but I will never forget our terror teachers. They open up conversations very well during reunions and gatherings.
I didn't really have either. No one truly terrifiying no one super nice. They all kind of fell in the middle. But I would say I remember the better teachers now -- even if they were on the strict side.
As an older person I can remember clearly the teachers who were warm, supportive and cheerful.
Some of those teachers were tough and their classes hard but they were there for me, and their other students.
The "terror teachers" are nothing but a dim flicker when their name or class comes up in conversation, for most of them I can't even remember their names.
But my great teachers will live in my heart for as long as I live. It is them that I respect and they were by far better teachers.
The best teacher is the one who engages you and makes you want to learn not the one who threatens you if you don't.
I remember my favorite teachers most because they made such a positive change in my life. I definitely remember the horrible ones, and laugh about them now, but the good ones are impossible to forget: they changed the direction of my life. The loser teachers didn't make any impact.
I don't recall a single nice (smiling) teacher, although I suppose I've had them. Every teaching moment that stands out in my mind are those when the teacher has punished or terrorized me in some way. My earliest memory was as a pre-schooler when my teacher put tape over my mouth to shut me up. She did not take the time to listen to my complaint that a spider was crawling up the wall next to my desk. I had been trying to get the kid next to me to scoot over so I could move away from the spider, and the teacher interpreted that as being disruptive and promptly taped my mouth shut. The terror I felt was overwhelming and I have never gotten over my fear of spiders. Not surprisingly, as I continued on in life, I continued to have an irrational mistrust of teachers, and many other authority figures. There are a few teachers which have probably impacted me in more positive ways, but they have done it mostly through encouragement, support, positive feedback and listening.

What do you remember about the best teacher you ever had? What was his or her name? There is something about a great teacher that makes us even remember their name. We are forever grateful to them so I thought I'd give us a chance to pay a tribute to that teacher we will never forget.

Please give me some insight...the boy is 9 years old, in the 3rd grade and physically healthy. He has been in the same school for the last 3 years, is known to the teachers and administrators, has not displayed any negative, has been a good kid from the beginning. We know that there have been some...

One of the comments to a hub that I wrote about mathematics said that the writer would never be good at math. A teacher she had 40 years ago scrawled "You deserve to fail" all over her paper, and she has never recovered. As dramatic as this sounds, I know that it happens all too...

If we don't acknowledge the real criminals? If we don't punish Bush and his administration (his closest crime perpetrators Rumsfeld and Cheney)?
