I was brought up the old fashioned way - respect your elders, never give cheak or answer back. Speak when spoken too and always be mannerly and polite. I have to admit that it did me no harm, and I am quite thankful my parents instilled those qualities in to me and smacking me if I was bad, god knows what I would have been like if they had not, probably one of those disrespectful people you see
