Which do you find more startling, a senior or young person pretending to be a different age?
What instinctively startles you most: seeing a senior -such as 79 year old Joan Rivers- trying to look decades younger than they are or a young person dressing as someone much older? I'm not looking for moral reactions, just which of the two (if either) is most likely to bring you a negative, gut-level reaction on first seeing? And if neither brings you a negative reaction feel free to comment on that, too.
I tend to forgive Joan Rivers because she's so funny, but seeing little kids dressed up like that disturbs me.
I think a young person trying to be much older, especially if it's inappropriate. I expect older people to be a little different, especially because attitude is part of what keeps people young.
Children dressing as if they are older is much more disturbing. And it's even worse that their parents allow them to do this.
Seeing someone young attempting to be more adult is often sad and can be shocking. But someone really old trying to be young is flat out creepy. And I often wonder when they look in the mirror what is it they see that they like - so often, to me, they look clown-like - like a 3 dimensional cartoon.
Really young children dressed and using make-up to look older bothers me because I don't think It's the child's own choice, a parent/guardian must have made the choice on their behalf. For me this includes pierced ears in babies. The older age person has made their own decision. Some do go way over the top,but they're not imposing their will on others.
Dear Joan isn't fooling anybody but at 79 more power to her. The other pic looks like a Stepford Wife in training.
Definitely the younster, but it's not what she's done to herself that is alarming; it's who did it to her. Those crazy mothers that live a life they couldn't have through those poor children. I've read in an article, I believe it was in Time long ago, that the 6 year old girls often go hungry to fit in a particular size dress. Those mothers ought to be sued!
I don't see how Joan is trying to look or act younger, she is who she is and has mentioned her age on many occasions. Now that second pic you have of that little girl all dressed up disturbs me on so many levels. That child in the picture has more make-up on then I have ever worn in my life and she looks unreal. It is just plain scary!

Why on earth do you think 60 year old wrinkly fat bald men get 21 year old girls?Even if it were “natural,” there’s nothing innocent or harmless or healthy about older men pursuing ceaselessly younger women. The cost is high to everyone involved. While a few young women may be attracted to much...
