Sorry krilico but major depression must be treated with pills. Sadness, anxiety, grief and panic should not be confused with depression. It is chemical, and one day soon they will have a blood test to check the levels, just like cholesterol.
I think you're on the right track, depression can lead to many other mental disorders or symptoms such as anxiety and should be treated on an individual basis. Depression, like most things, isn't black and white therefore the best meds aren't either.

Not 'many'. While laughter, exercise and nutrition are helpful, and my solve some very mild symptoms, it will not touch genuine dysthymic, bi-polar, or major depression. No one should take meds 'blindly'.
SherryDigital, one of the most common side effects with ANY age group first taking antidepressants is increased suicidal ideation. You made an uneducated statement. Depression is caused by chemical imbalance. How do you fix that if not with meds?!?
Sherry, I am sorry, but I must strongly disagree. Major depression does not go away without medications. EVER. A person with depression has chemicals in their left frontal lobe that are not firing "properly".
Go Sherry Great advice! might I ad..... be sure to be aware of your environment and the people that you are amongst. You'll be quite surprised how random people and your environment can contribute to depression. A few gOOd friends may help as well
Antidepressants don't simply mask the feeling. Each medication works differently but in general antidepressants affects the neurotransmitters in your brain, and it's neurotransmitters that are largely responsible for emotions.
