yep! Your first step of subtracting took you off the main course. Remember multiplication and dividion first. 1 x 0 = 0. 2/2 = 1.
Thank you jeannie. I show these to my students. It reinforces the thought process behind solving mathematical equation.

Please tell us what the BODMAS is? Thank you!
BODMAS means Brackets of Division. Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. In your equation the division comes first then the multiplication then the addition and lastly the subtraction.
Thank you smartprincess! I'd only heard of Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.
BODMAS means Brackets, of, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. That is if there are brackets, start solving them first, followed by x, then / and so on.
Thank you Patkay! I'm going to let me students know they may be able to get homework tutoring here. Alright!
