What kind of damage have you experienced from Hurricane Sandy?

There are millions of people in the path of Hurricane Sandy. With all of the advance warning, I hope that everybody was able to make it somewhere safe to wait out the storm. What kind of damages did your property sustain from Sandy? How long were you without power? What kind of flooding have you experienced?

We weren't affected by hurricane Sandy, but we still haven't gotten completely over what hurricane Isabelle did around10 years ago.

Wow...I was "knee-deep" in babies ten years ago...lol. So, I didn't really pay attention to any storms that were happening outside the four walls of my house. I knows these hurricanes can be devastating. Stay safe!

Winds are just starting to pick up here in southern Connecticut, a few gusts over 40 mph but expecting winds to increase this afternoon.  I have no damage in my yard right now, im a little less than a mile away from the beach (Long Island Sound) but we have had minor coastal flooding since yesterday's high tide.  The beaches are already closed off and madatory evacuations have taken place.  We're expecting wind gust up to 80mph and a storm surge of 8-11 feet on top of an astronomical high tide, to put this in perspective the devestating surge associated with Tropical storm Irene last year was only half that at a little over 4 feet (check out Irene pics here: http://bwd316.hubpages.com/hub/Hurrican … icut-Coast )  So you can see it's going to be very bad along the coast line.  One friend of my grandmothers has been living on the water since she was a girl (she's 83 now) and her house has never flooded from storm surge (it came close last year during Irene) but she moved out a lot of valuables this morning, which goes to show you people are expecting the worse.  As for my property im expecting to lose power, possible a few trees and shingles, hopefully nothing more!

We live in Georgia and believe or not we have been experiencing high winds for three days now. I cannot believe we have not lost power or at least the sat dish. The winds have been a postive for us because it has unloaded all of the pecans from our 200+ year old tree. I have been shelling non-stop for several days. I pray for all those in the path because living in an ocean boarding state, we clearly understand the dangers of such storms.

Praise God not too much damage here in my neighborhood! I think that's because we all lost so many trees the last couple years (between our heavy winter in 2010-2011, Irene, last OCtober's storm etc), there wasn't too many left to get blown down!
