Morality has left the building. Even at the threat of death so many are still engaged in unprotected sex.

I would say it is out of control.  We have become a nation of doing what feels good regardless of the cost.  shotokanone says it well.

We expect no restraint from our young people and certainly don't see it in many adults.  I feel it is very sad.  What started out as the sexual revolution in the 60's has become a firestorm of immorality, and the accompanying repercussions are ugly.

I think we've reached a point where women are on a sexual par with men at last. By that, I mean a woman can enjoy sex outside of a relationship and not suffer the stigma of being labeled a "slut" anymore. I don't subscribe to Christian morality, so the idea of sex doesn't bother me or make me uncomfortable.

I disagree. There is definitely a double standard (although less severe than it used to be).

My apologies. I guess you're right. When a woman slips up and gets pregnant outside of wedlock, she is still treated as if she's some sort of monster by society.

I think that most Americans are oblivious to it at this point. I feel that it is overwhelming and needs to dialed back 1000%. A few years ago, you would have never seen a sexual scene during commercial breaks on prime time TV. That was saved for late night. Now you'll see it at 7 am, noon, 5pm, etc. Just look at the Carl's Jr/Hardee's commercials...she's eating a burger but not really. Everything is oversexed and nothing seems to be off limit. Even some of the kid's cartoons make innuendos to adult themes. Now we have to give "the talk" to kids at age 7 or 8 instead of waiting until they are teens. If not, we run the risk of their more saavy friends or the TV teaching them all about it.

The climate is definitely oversaturated and too relaxed about things that should be sacred between a man and woman. Sex shouldn't be so meaningless.

I find the "sexy" costumes now sold to underage girls on Halloween disturbing. I don't let my kids watch iCarly or anything on Disney for that reason. But I let them watch Family Guy since it is a farce. Disney gives false portrayals of reality.
