   Do you enjoy the rain, or do you find it depressing?
   
   Hi all, just wanted to ask whether rain affects your mood. Do you feel depressed when it rains or do you enjoy it?

   Rain definitely affects your mood I think. In the same way, that when it's sunny people are generally happier. I;m from the UK so we have a very temperate climate - it's never sunny all the time or rainy all the time.
   
   Psychologically rain makes us feel sadder. Everywhere looks more grey, people are getting wet which nobody likes and all looks a bit more drab. Consequently you'll find slightly more negative thoughts entering your mind.
   
   However, for me personally, as long as I know there is rain and I am prepared and wrapped up, I don't mind it too much. It's also quite a nice feeling being in a car or house somewhere warm knowing that it's wet out side and you are nice and cosy:-)

      I agree with you. I also lived in the UK for many years and although I am use to the weather now, it use to affect me a lot at the beginning. To be honest though there's nothing like the sun, just looking at it makes you smile

   It depends on how often it rains and the time of day or night as well as do I have to go out into it. A light rain at night can be a backdrop for a romantic evening at home in front of the fireplace.
   Sometimes a good summer storm at night provides a good night of sleep and if the following morning its sunny and bright with birds chirping, colorful flowers, vibrant green grass and plants it can give you the feeling the earth just took a shower and is much cleaner. 
   A severe thunderstorm with floods and power outages is no picnic. Consecutive rainy and cloudy days in a row tends to get old and affect my moods. I wouldn't say it depresses me as much as it frustrates me knowing there is somewhere else where people are basking in the sunshine under a large umbrella or hut on a sandy beach sipping on frozen Mango daiquiris while listening to music on their iPod, or grilling meats in the backyard for a gathering, attending an outdoor festival or concert...etc
   Those are the things that can get to you. When I was a very young child and thought everyone was in the "same boat" weather wise it was easier to deal with! :-)

      It's always worse if we have to go out in the rain if we don't need to leave the house, the rain doesn't really bother us. In fact it can be really relaxing. However continuous raining could affect a persons mood negatively.

   I love a light rain during the night as it lulls me to sleep, but heavy rains, I do not like.  We have some downpours here and they just seem to do no good as the water just rolls off the top of the around here. If it rains for more that 3 days it depresses me and I itch to see some sun rays.  All my gardens like it this way too.

      Hi Lady Guinevere, thank you for your answer. I also prefer light rain to heavy rain. Listening to the raindrops can be very relaxing at times.

   I think it depends on the type of rain, and what I need to do! If I'm inside, reading a book or watching tv, I don't mind it so much (as long as it doesn't affect my Sky signal!). However, if I'm supposed to be at a barbecue or going shopping, I'm not so keen...

      Yes its a bit frustrating when the rain stands in the way of our plans, especially when it ruins a barbecue or a day out! Thanks for answering Sarah!

   For me, the rain usually does make me feel a little down and if I need to be outside or go out, it can get in the way. Sometimes, if I'm just staying in then I won't mind it as much but I prefer sunny days!

   I like the rain on a very limited basis. Like one day.  If it goes on more than that I get very depressed. I am highly susceptible to SAD.

   I enjoy the rain. It doesn't depress me much at all. Just driving in the rain is a hastle.

   When you are in good mood, you will enjoy raining. I used to go to upstairs of my house when it likely to rain. However, the safety is very important. We can enjoy heavy raining or a hail storm only when we are staying safe in our home. It will be certainly a problem when we are outside.

    I like the rain ... only in the first few minutes. It calms my down. I write better, It helps me meditate.
    
    But, then, the gloomy weather saddens me. It's cloudy, I can't get out, if I get out of the house I wet my clothes.
    
    Let's say that I like the summer rains, those that pass quickly and leave behind their coolness, a cheerful sun and often a rainbow.

    Hello Chris, I'd say it depends on the circumstance in which the rain finds me. I like rain when I'm in my bed, whether at day or night but I dislike it when I'm heading to my office and it blocks my way

    I LOVE when it rains! Everyone thinks I'm weird because of that but I just don't care! It makes me feel at peace, calm, and relaxed. I've always been this way and I love that this makes me just a little bit different than everyone else...it's part of what makes me...Me

    I love the rain as it seldom rains in Northern California.I love to stay in bed and cuddle with a hot cup of tea or coffee when it rains and the sky is gray. I like to look out the window when it rains and look at the plants. Rain sounds peaceful and has a calming effect.

    If I'm home, I kinda enjoy it. But not while outside. I hate driving in the rain.
