   Has there ever been an exciting invention than a mobile phone?
   
   May be the radio, tv, watch, car, sewing machine, electricity, computer, fax, telex, etc., etc.

   I don't know why we are being urged to be exicited by the invention of the mobile, it really does nothing important, why do we have to be excited by events, or material things.  There have been far more useful inventions in the history of mankind, say, the stirrup, or the ploughshare, ect.

   I don't know about being exciting. For those who can remember going out and not being interrupted by people passing on every useless piece of trivia as if it mattered, mobile phones are one of the most aggravating and annoying inventions ever thought up.

   The interesting feature of a cell phone is that, on the surface, you don't know where the call is coming from. I had a neighbor who worked on the east coast and several years ago spent a week in Idaho fishing while everyone else thought he was in PA making sales calls. His phone and his laptop allowed him to do that. On the other hand you never really know where your kids are anymore...wonder if they make a phone locating app?

   When perfected, the mobile phone will be a great addition to people's lives.  In the meantime, if automobiles  ran as well as cell phones work, people would barely get out of their driveways before having a breakdown.  I would like to add more but the call just dropped!

   The computer, hands down. You can text and call when on it. But exciting? Almost every invention in history was met with fear of something new. If you name a lot of things in the 20th century, they were exciting because our attitude changed.

   I'd say the internet. The internet is the reason why you can ask this question & why I can answer it. Cell phones are great but for me the internet is a necessity.

   I wouldn't even have the mobile phone in the Top 10 of inventions. Everything from the Internet and computers, to refrigerators and television trumps the mobile phone.
