What was the mana that fell from the sky in the Old Testament that fed the Israelites?
My interpretation is that they may have been eating psilocybin mushrooms.
food from God to sustain them, little flakes of bread or something like that sent to them which they then collected as food
It could have been volcanic ash. Around this time there were some major volcanic eruptions in the Mediterranean basin. Ancient Egyptian records the same event but with a slightly different interpretation.
You can't eat volcanic ash- but you can use it in soap.
At this time there had been an eathquake in the region. The crossing of the Red Sea may have been assisted by the seabed rising for a short time, dropping again to engulf the Egyptians chasing after them. The toads and everything else mentioned in the O.T. that dropped out of the sky had been 'scooped up' by post-quake whirlwinds within the region. The same must go for the 'manna', once thought to have been bread, but who's heard of 'bread' falling out of the sky?
Whatever it was must have been edible, that's understood.
They were light flakes of wafer that tasted like honey. Sounds like they were sweet and sustaining (have read the OT), and I don't think that they can be explained away all that easily...miracles deserve to be accepted with gratitude. The manna was a miracle.
* disclaimer ~ I am not particularly religious, but I do believe that often the magic and mysteries in our lives is a matter of what we see and how we see it. If we wish to explain things away, we will. If we accept gifts and blessings for what they are, we will be grateful, joyful, happy, and full of love.

When you read the Book of Revelations, it reads like a good sci-fy story, or mythical mystery novel does. Maybe this is because of the fact that the Book of Revelations is virtually a storyline about a dream, which a man named John once had a long, long, long time ago. Most scholars now agree that...

Why does everyone think that the Bible was written and put together by God? Don't people realize that there are many holy books and manuscripts that have been excluded from the Bible? St. Thomas Aquinas wrote one and it was omitted from the Bible by a group of people a few hundred years after Jesus...
