   Why is it that everything from the past, works out to be so much better than things of today?
   
   From food , to people , to places , to clothes, to respect, to love , to understanding, to relationships, to songs , to food , I can go on forever to friendship need I go on!

   I'm not sure, Sky9106, but you do speak the truth. I think the answer is complicated. I would venture to say that making things faster, cheaper, and easier to access, coupled with less tolerance to delay gratification has something to do with it. Our value of "things" has decreased.

   We tend to edit and condense the past. Hard fought battles are reduced to 'we won' and the people living today will never know how much effort actually went into it. Think of a long-running struggle that has occurred in your lifetime, then imagine it being reduced to a footnote in future text books. Then you'll start to understand why the past always looks like the 'golden age' while the present is mired in conflict.

      In an attempt a simplification , the present does because it actually is. I believe a great tree was planted , however a monster was also created . That is the reason I love the Bible. For me it painted and presents the greatest picture. Bless.

   I think people fantasize about the past being so much better or different. I wholeheartedly agree with Thief12 and M.T. and go beyond into...
   
   What do you consider the past?
   
   Let's consider the food of the past...maybe there weren't all the "extras" but food choice was quite limited, preservation was work and if you weren't a farmer, food in general was hard to come by. Maybe for a spot in the past, the food was better but that would be about it.
   
   Clothing didn't fit right half the time unless you had it tailored, songs...well that's a matter of preference and even then, maybe for a spot in time, and as for people and their characteristics...I don't think anything has changed much at all. Greed was and is. Gluttony grew from the past and has been passed down for generations. Respect still had a value and understanding still came with agreeing with "me".
   
   Technology and documentation are what has changed, not the people. Had video cameras been in the hand of every American at the birth of this country, the past would be painted much differently.

      Well taken . The past - as close to the origin, as you the individual care to to feel confident that is the way it was. So as for as your minds eye can see.
      Has our present directions made all aspects of life, better?

      No. I don't think today's direction is great however I'm not convinced it's so much worse than the past...just worse and better in different ways. Not sure I would trade today for the past I suppose.

      Don't misunderstand me , I fully understand and appreciate your response, it is when minds connect a desired reaction can occur, I love those connections and I love the cow and the pure milk ,i love the organic instead of genetically engineered.

   Sky9106 you are right, things have changed drastically. From a commercial standpoint when things were made they were made to last. Example....Pyramids of Egypt...1950 Cadillacs...the family structure was strongly in place. STD's, unwanted pregnancies, broken families was the exception not the common. Today it seems like money governs everything and it's not about looking out for the customer but getting over on them. The family structure has completely broken down and morals barely exist.
   
   Some try to say that it hasn't but if one of your grandparents is still alive, or even great grandparent they will tell you accounts of a time where they didn't even lock their doors. I spoke with this woman from Mississippi who grew up on a farm and she stated she remember her father taking in hobbo's for the night and feeding them. Could you imagine doing that today? We all know the answer to that!
   
   So why have things changed? The scriptures clearly point to that we are living in the last days. Now some will say that there has always been war, poverty and sickness. However the bible also foretold how people's attitude would be in general.
   
   Notice 1 Timothy 3:1-5 "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

   Well of course Cre8tor, I must vote for the times in which I am a reality, but know that sharing and unselfishness are two of the best attributes a human can possess and in doing what I consider to be an unselfish analysis, my fairness and knowledge compels me to prefer the side with the more nutritious food, the cleaner air, not being under the threat of constant danger from others on a global scale, a greater reverence for the "creator", a more understanding and assuring love, more respectful kids, a greater human compassion,universally sound, trustworthy friends and family, less greed, more honesty and being more at one with nature. Less pretense can't you see how outwardly bold those trickery commercials are?
   I can go on, but I need to hear a few from you. Imagine an untroubled glass of milk from a cow that is forbidden from handing drinkers of its milk more chemicals than one can ever imagine!

      Devil's Advocate: You can't just look at the sugar past the salt. Don't forget you'll be milking that cow n picking those veggies with a constant threat of nature and man looming. When is this past u desire? Time frame would help me decide my trade.

   With each passing day, we are getting more and more older. There is no way we can stop it. So, it's a human nature that our memory should go back and think oh yes! that was the last time I found it great!

      Thanks MR. I took that aspect into consideration as well. It is not as if I wish I can again be in my 20's , I truly believe we are heading into a time of Quicker everything, with substance and quality disappearing.
