How did the act of using vulgarity get these unusual terms?

"Profanity" - meaning something profane to the divine "Swearing" - stemming from the word "swear", which means vouching truth of a situation or promise "Cursing" - meaning to cast a negative fate upon an individual or object "Bless out" - stemming from the concept of giving a blessing upon an individual or event. I find these terms humorous, and perhaps contradictory. In the case of "profanity" - the name of the Norse goddess, Friggi, was turned into a vulgar word ("Frick" and "f*ck") only by those that didn't even believe in Her divinity. So, how did these terms for using vulgarity evolve?
