   Do you ever attend high school class reunions?  How do you feel about them?
   
   Some people love high school reunions and some hate them.  What do you think?

   Post-high school 20 years, not enough of my 625-person senior class was alive to have a reunion -- Viet Nam took most of them in the conflict's final years. The reports of the 5-year-reunion indicated much drunken falling into a hotel pool by the few dozen attending. The 10-year reunion was not well attended and I was not interested.
   
   I like the idea of one Texas high school (can't recall the name) that has a reunion for all classes every year. Some young folks as well as people in their 70s attend yearly and a retired teacher in his late 80s does as well. They have a nice meal, some games, conversation, refreshments, a picnic, and a dance over two days' time. Now that's a reunion!

   Nope, I've never bothered with reunions. I didn't like high school much and don't have any interest in reconnecting with anyone from that era after all this time.

   Neither my sisters nor myself see the point of a high school reunion. We HATED high school. I couldn't wait to get out. Footy-headed morons, ra-ra-ra! Bring on the clowns in support of the footy-heads! See them pick on the kids who might be interested in Science or English. See them drool over Metalwork and Woodwork. I remember spelling ratchet rat-shit because I so hated Metalwork and those who were so keen on it. I got into college as a mature age student and marveled at how easy everything went. No more ra-ra-ra! No more clowns. Party on weekends but getting stuck into stuff during the week. I LOVED college and then university. The people wanted to be there and they were dedicated to learning. MY kind of people. So to hell with high school reunions.

   Marcy....When it comes to Class reunions, I'd be willing to wager that my class has had more reunions than most!  I not only live in an area of WNY made up of small towns, Villages and small cities, but my sister and I attended private High School, which reduced the size of our class in number, even further. This in itself allowed everyone to really get to know one another and form bonds as a group as opposed to creating those horrendous "cliques."  After 4 years our classmates were basically more like family.
   My "50th" (OUCH) is next summer 2016......Since graduation, we have had traditional full-blown reunions every 5 years rather than every 10 as well as last minute-planned "get-togethers"  when one or a few classmates come into town, so to speak, from where ever they had gone off to live and work.  Many of us have remained good friends to this day and have kept in touch in some way with the rest.   
   My email is already abuzz with plans and organizing for the big 50th.....
   I have attended several but not all.  It always seemed to me that we had a great time at each & every one. 
   We were all serious academics but also very much the "wild childs" of the '60's ......within reason.  I'm personally proud of all of us.  We have quite an impressive list of productive, stellar & successful individuals.  Doctors, lawyers, architects, law enforcement, Government employees, Firemen, Nurses, teachers, business owners & even a few who took the entrepreneur route & reached the top.   We also have our Joe and Jane everyday hard-working people who remained in their hometowns. 
   Sadly we have lost a few, but it's less than 10. Statistically, that's fairly low.  IMHO, experiences with class reunions has been idyllic......Peace, Paula

   I must say that yes social media is really eliminating the stereotypical high school reunion. Many of your past classmates probably have some form of social media they use and it's much easier to connect with them. You can know exactly how they're doing based on their Facebook page and send them an invite if you so choose.
   
   Let's face it the idea of a high school reunion was hoping your life turned out slightly better than that obnoxious prom king or queen. Does it really matter in the overall context that is your life, Nope, but it's somewhat interesting.
   
   I do think that eventually high school reunions will become extinct because nobody will bother to show up if they already know how you're doing. I never had one yet and I don't care for them, but one could understand the role they play and why people still enjoy them. It's a way to reconnect with old classmates and teachers, so if you love them, then don't let opinions like mine  stop you.
