Why is Kim Davis idolized by some although she displayed prejudicial actions against those

based upon their sexual orientation which is considered to be unlawful discrimination? What Ms. Davis did was simply illegal, pure and simple.  She willingly defied the Supreme Court ruling regarding legalization of same sex marriage.  Ms. Davis however decided that SHE was the law.  Well, it DOESN'T work that way. Prejudice and bigotry is a horrible thing which should NEVER be tolerated.

Dear Grace....While the vast majority may agree with you wholeheartedly, I'm sure you have read now that those WITH Ms Davis are claiming, according to Kentucky LAW, even the Judge who locked her up, "has broken the law"  ?!.
This will only be solved (in a legal sense, in court as the saga continues)  Her Attorney has started his TV campaign.  They are NOT budging, but vow to take this ALL the way.  Their firm belief is that Kim will emerge the victor.

We get to sit by and wait, watch & listen.  At this point, Grace, who knows what the end result will be?  I'm too worn out to even wonder about it.

To us it is cut and dry.  Apparently we'll soon find out........Paula

As you have stated before, Ms. Davis is indulging in histrionics.  All she had to do is to obey the law.  The LGBT lifestyle is not hers to condemn.  Just do the job at hand. However, she was hard-headed and LOOK WHERE THAT GOT HER, hmmmmm.

There have been times in the past when people went  against the law of the land and issued marriage certificates to same sex couples.  They did so because of their belief it was the right thing to do.  They were NOT put in jail.  They were not called upon to vacate their job.  According to their followers, these people were heroes for standing up against the wrongful rule of law.  NOW someone stands up against the rule of law and follows THEIR beliefs against same sex marriage.  THEY are put in jail. THEY are called upon to leave their job.  The outrage over this is justified.   I'm sure we can all see the hypocrisy.

So you're saying taxpayers should all sit down + shut up and just keep paying Ms. Kim (80,000 a yr) + her deputy clerk's salaries, to sit and decorate the office since they are not doing anything that office exists for?  She was issuing NO licenses.

It's happened before and nobody went to jail.  These people were considered heroes.

A lot of it could have to do with many of her supporters being what are called "Right-Wing Authoritians"

She also holds an elected position, so she can't be fired. She would have to be impeached. And judging from her 15 minutes of fame when she got out of jail today, many people in KY agree with her, sigh.

I'm so tired of hearing about "The War on Christians" when it's they who keep trying to push their beliefs on everyone else. The Supreme Court has ruled that gay couples have the same rights as everyone else, this is a civil rights issue. Davis took an oath to uphold the laws when she took this job. If it interferes with her religious beliefs, she should resign.

People who believe that every word in the Bible should be taken literally drive me crazy!

Exactly Jean, you have stated that matter succinctly I might add. People who take the Bible literally are well.....intellectually undeveloped.

From a law-centered view point, this Democrat, Kim Davis has a valid argument and indeed is correct. This has nothing to do with prejudice on her part. I simply ask you, under what law is she authorized to issue homosexual couples a marriage license?’ That simple question is giving many in Congress a civics lesson that they never got in grade school...
The Supreme Court cannot and did not make a law. They only made a ruling on a law. Congress makes the laws. Because Congress has made no law allowing for same-sex marriage, Kim does not have the Constitutional authority to issue a marriage license to homosexual couples yet. Although that will probably change soon...
