   According to American psychological assessments, the average IQ in the United States is the abysmal
   
   range from 90-100, with an average IQ of 98 while superior intelligence is 110-125, gifted is 130-139 and genius or near genius is 140 and above.   What does this IQ assessment say about the average American person?

   50% of the global population is below average in intelligence. 75% are below the IQ level of 100. The most intelligent of the human species are the top 25%, with the elite 3% belonging to the Mensa category.
   Basically, this means that only one in every four people you meet are intelligent at all.
   IQ really only measures logic and reason and problem solving ability.
   It does not measure caring, loving and dreaming styles of intelligence. Both kinds of people are worthwhile.
   But if the caring/loving/dreaming people would only let the rest of us run the world, we would all be better off I think. There are problems to be solved that the caring/loving/dreaming people just cannot deal with.
   Obviously, we still need the caring/loving/dreaming people, but they should go into health care for instance and not politics.

      This is a sad assessment indeed that 75% of the population has an IQ level of below 100.  This explains why so many people are religious and are susceptible to suggestion i.e. brainwashing. Ortega was right about the mass person indeed!

      One thing that puzzles me when we ask about 'intelligence'. People always get defensive. One might as well get defensive about the color of their hair or eyes. It takes all intelligence levels to make a world. Use what you got!

   There is nothing wrong with a low IQ as most people with 120+IQ's can be classed as autistic or ADD ADHD. My IQ is around 125 with my partner about 130 this puts us both in the high end and we both were thought to have a form of mild autism which was never fully diagnosed. My 7 year old has a higher than average IQ for her age and shows signs that could be considered as that of autism.
   
   A low IQ just means that the logical part of your brain is not that good but that does not mean that you are thick. It could just mean that another part of your brain that the test does not account for is better.
   
   My logical brain is pretty good but my English is rubbish and I only did well at school in maths and science so having a high IQ is not all its cracked up to be. I also suffer from depression.
   
   In conclusion having a low IQ may be better than a high one and its not a true measure of you as a person.

      A 90-100 IQ is average but to me, that is low.  According to psychological & IQ assessments, low IQ is below 90. No one wants a low IQ for low IQ people have limited/impaired functioning.  No one wants that!

      As I have stated a high IQ can also show imparement take the rain man. An autistic person can have a high IQ but impaired functionality in everyday life.

      Genius-level IQs are not uncommon among people with very high-functioning autism but autism is not common among people with high IQs. Personal experience suggests to me that the genius-level intelligence makes the high-functionality possible.

   It says the average American is of average intelligence. Aren't you aware of what average means? Average does not have the same meaning as mediocre.
   
   Plenty of Americans are mediocre but that mediocrity is a choice that has little to do with their intelligence. I know some pretty amazing people with average IQs and some pretty boring people with higher IQs.
   
   I know a woman with an IQ low enough to compete in the Special Olympics who can have an intelligent conversation with me. She knows how to focus on the words of the person she is conversing with and thinks about what those words mean. I've known dozens of highly indoctrinated people with higher than average IQs who were so limited by their favorite dogma they couldn't converse without it playing center stage and neutering their ability to understand simple logic or word meanings.
   
   Think about how many otherwise intelligent people firmly hold the belief that every person must reproduce or the human population will drop despite their ability to use math at much higher levels than one requires to see the obvious!
   
   Intelligence is a little like computer hardware. A slow computer can be a very good and interesting computer if it has the right software. A fast computer can be a pile of junk if it's filled with faulty software.
   
   In my opinion, there's also a special value to people who are straightforward and unwilling to use their processing power on dominance games or jingoism no matter what amount of intelligence they have to work with.
   
   I'm speaking from the highest category you have listed.
