The colors we wear stand for various characteristics and as most people are drawn to certain colors it can communicate much about personality based on what the color symbolizes. Red and black are two of the most commonly worn colors and both convey the sense of clearly defined attributes through what they represent.
The color red symbolizes warmth, high energy and positivity. Given its masculine vitality it’s a powerful signal or strength, leadership, extroversion and self-confidence. As it reflects our most basic physical motivations including our will to live it is associated with sexuality and desire. As red signifies corporeal needs it transmits the nature of our physical life force another signal of sexuality, passion and love Wearing red signals individuality, will power and strength of character and of will, indicating a person who goes their own way and refuses to conform to the status quo. From the negative point of view, red is the color of anger and revenge.
The color black symbolizes the hidden, and the unknown. As opposed to red which communicates passion, black suggests the allure of the mysterious or a secret waiting to be uncovered. Thus, as opposed to sexuality, it symbolizes sensuality and a slow revealing of the self. Black signifies a sense of aloofness, coolness or emotions held at bay, someone who remains unfazed regardless of the level of stress around them. When worn it transmits a sense of power, self-control, discipline and authority. Like red, black is indicative of self-confidence and independence.
