   Should schools be involved in cyber bullying that happens outside of school?
   
   Along with the opportunities the internet has brought to schools, it has also posed many issues and challenges for schools to deal with. One of these is how to deal with cyberbullying and whether or not that is even their role.  Should it be the role of schools to step in with cyber bullying that doesn't happen at school or with school equipment/software?

   Legally, they shouldn't have to be, but because of the threat of violence in our schools today, administrators will have to step in.
   
   So many of these school shootings have their roots in a bullied kid who feels he has no other options.  So if they can at least invite victims to disclose the name of their cyber-bully, it might send a message. Having real punishments might help to. If some kid is threatening another online, he gets delayed graduation, lose of possible scholarships, etc. Granted, I doubt the schools want to keep these clowns around any longer they have to, but it might help.
   
   Plus, with everyone having a smartphone, the bullying is going on throughout the day while on school grounds.  One threat via their phones, and a fight is happening in the hallway later.  Vicious cycle.

   If the school is the thing the bully and victim have as common ground it should come as no surprise that the school would want to put a stop any bullying that involves it's students.
   No school wants to be known as a breeding ground for bullying.
   Most employers wouldn't tolerate an employee beating up a fellow employee simply because it took place offsite.
   In fact in this era you're likely not to get hired based upon Facebook postings. Both the schools and employers feel they have some say in the type of people they want attending or working for their institutions.
   People have been fired for behavior outside of work!
