### point2make says

36 is a square number because it represents the total of a number multiplied by itself.......in this case 6....6x6= 36. The total of any number mulitiplied by itself is a "square" number.

### Lisa HW says

36 is a square number 6 times 6 equals 36, and that means you can multiply one number by itself (6 x 6 - same number, of course) and get 36.

Any time you multiply a number by itself, the answer is a square number. For example, there is no 37 or 23 on the multiplication table. Square numbers are 4 (2 x 2), 9 (3 x 3), 16 (4 x 4), 25 (5 x 5), 36 (6 x 6), 49 (7 x 7), 64 (8 x 8), 81 (9 x 9), and 100 (10 x 10).

### wilbury4 says

Square numbers, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100 etc

as in, 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 etc etc

As Point2make states, the result of any number multiplied by itself is a square number......

Any number which is mulitplied by same number gives the square, so 36 square gives 6 x 6, 8 x 8=64, etc,
