Hi Humy1308,

3n = 1.5

Divide each side by 3 to get "n" on its own

The two 3's on the left hand side will cancel each other out leaving you equation as;

n = 1.5 / 3

= 0.5

n = 0.5 (ans)

Question b

2n + 0.5

Rewrite as follows;

2n + 0.5 = 0

Bring the 0.5 over the = sign to the other side, it now becomes negative 0.5 ( change side , change sign) ok so far

So we'll now do your equation;

2n + 0.5 = 0

2n + 0 - 0.5

2n = - 0.5

Divide each side by 2 to get "n" on its own

the two's on the left hand side of the equation will cancel each other, leaving "n" on its own.

so now we have;

n = - 0.5 / 2

n = - 0.25 (ans)

Questions (C to H ) work in exactly the same way as question B

So try these on your own and let me know how you get on please; always divide by the correct number to get "n" on its own.

Question I

n + 7.5

Rewrite as follows;

n + 7.5 = 0

Bring the 7.5 over the = sign to the other side, it now becomes negative 7.5 ( change side , change sign) ok so far

So we'll now do your equation;

n + 7.5 = 0

n = 0 - 7.5

n = - 7.5 (ans)

Use your calculator when dividing to find the answers to these questions.

Good Luck
