If You See A Teacher, Give Them A Quick Thanks

Just writing a quick hub about teachers. While I was at work yesterday I was thinking about my teacher from 3 yrs ago. At 29 I decided to go back to school and the teacher I had was awesome. But then it lead me to think about today's school and how it is a lot different today then it was when I was in elementary or even high school. I think today's teachers have it a lot harder these days. When I was in school it felt like the biggest thing teachers had to face was kids running in the halls and gum chewing in class. Today, students are more advanced in their thinking. Hormones seem to be racing at earlier ages. Bullying is at an all time high and on a completely different level than giving wedgies or stuffing kids in lockers. Technology has also presented different challenges to deal with. And thing's just seem to be more stressful for the students as well as the teachers than what I remember as a child. I can only imagine the obstacles that teachers of today have to deal with. So I say kudos to them for hanging in there and giving education to our students of today.

What Kind Of Student Were You?:

  • Nerd Alert! (Good kid)
  • Just followed the rules 'til you got outta there. (Mediocre kid)

Teaching has indeed become more difficult - even in the 15 years I have been teaching. The problems I see with today's students are problems that didn't exist when I was a student. With everything going in the lives of my students, I am surprised that they do as well as they do!

Thanks for writing this!

You're welcome! Many teachers go unappreciated. I appreciate you. :-)

I agree Kudos to the teachers. My sis-in-law is that career area. She is in the admin side and it seems stressful with all the laws and lack of funding etc. And, my hat is off to you for continuing your education!

Thanks tsmog and nice to meet ya. I wouldn't want to be a teacher today for anything. I don't think I have the patience for it. But I applaud those with the patience and courage that do.
