If you sign up for Skype or Yahoo Messenger you can talk to friends who are on on their PC from your PC, either by talking over the PC or else just by typing back and forth into the message box. You could also get a free blog and post your updates for friends/family to read on your blog. Google offers free blogs that are easy to use. Just a couple of other ideas. If, by any chance, you need help setting up anything like those you can always ask here. I imagine lots of people would be glad to help you.
You could use a phone.... Then you could have a Private Conversation, instead of a Public one!

If you search Squidoo, you get a block that tells you Squidoo is Now Hub Pages. Talk about misleading.
