Spanish Projects for High School Students - 7 Great Ideas
are some great ideas for Spanish projects for high school students.
Really, these ideas could be used for other subjects such as History or
any foreign language. But I focused on Spanish because my son will soon
need to start his first project in homeschool for this subject. I plan
on letting him choose from the Spanish projects for high school students
Spanish Projects for High School Students: Make a Commercial
Making a commercial as a project for Spanish class is probably one of the most challenging assignments that you can give to your students. So I suggest that you give them a few weeks (at least) to complete the project. Here is an article that offers some great tips on how to make a commercial. A few of the items aren’t relevant since your students won’t need to purchase any advertising time. But overall, if your students follow the steps they shouldn’t have much difficulty putting together a commercial in Spanish.
Probably the easiest way to edit the commercials for Spanish projects for high school students is to use Windows Movie Maker. It is software that comes standard on most PCs. So that makes it very cost effective. Also, the program is user friendly. But if your students are not familiar with how to use it then direct them to this fabulous tutorial on how to use Windows Movie Maker. And here is a forum dedicated exclusively to using Movie Maker. But I’d suggest you start with the tutorial if you have never used the software before.
Spanish Projects for High School Students: Create Music Lyrics for a Song or a Rap
This may sound a bit intimidating to some students. So, you may want to emphasize the fact that lyrics are really just poems set to music. Have the students write lyrics covering a particular subject that has already been covered in Spanish class (i.e. going to the park, grocery shopping, watching television). Then have the students find royalty free music that they can use for their songs for Spanish projects for high school students. Incompetech has free royalty free music available in several genres.
Spanish Projects for High School Students: Do a Skit
You can either choose a topic for your students that they have recently studied in Spanish class or you may choose to let them decide on one that they are comfortable with when doing skits as Spanish projects for high school students. Here is an excellent page on how to make a restaurant skit (look toward the bottom of the page). Actually the entire web quest would be great to use when your students are studying restaurants in Spanish class.

Spanish Projects for High School Students: Create a Scrapbook
Normally, scrapbooks are made over time to commemorate life’s special moments. But small ones with a limited number of pages could make good Spanish projects for high school students. You could assign a topic and have the students collect photographs that relate to that topic. For example, you might have them put together a scrapbook with the title Mi Familia. The students would arrange photos of their family in the scrapbook and tell a few facts or a little story in Spanish about each one.
Spanish Projects for High School Students: Make a Game
Here are some game templates that were created in Power Point. The nice thing about these is that you can have the students modify the text so that the games are in Spanish instead of English. Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Jeopardy would be excellent choices to use as Spanish projects for high school students. Or if you’d prefer that your students make a board game then here are some great instructions complete with templates on how to do that if you have the Microsoft Office suite on your computer.
Spanish Projects for High School Students: Make a Comic
Comics as Spanish projects for high school students are a good idea for the ones in your class who enjoy drawing. My oldest has been drawing comics since he was 5 years old. So, I sometimes incorporate this skill into some of the lesson plans. Here’s a great lesson plan on how to create comic strips. Of course, your students will create dialogue in Spanish for their comics. Also here is an online comic creator. This might work well in a homeschool setting. And here are some free comic strip templates from DonnaYoung.org that you can use for your Spanish projects for high school students. There are several to choose from.
