10 Best- & Worst-Dressed of 2009

Updated on August 16, 2013

The year 2009 has passed. Let's take a look in this list which celebrities were the best-dressed and the worst-dressed. I'm including here a poll below each celebrity and it's up to you to vote or not. Here is the best-dressed and the worst-dressed list of 2009...

Best: Suri Cruise

She is the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, a fashion designer. She is known as one of the most stylish toddler in Hollywood. This mini-fashionista made headlines for walking the streets of Boston in high heels. She's in the best-dressed list for the second year in a row. Every photo of her in 2009 showcased the budding style icon's fabulous wardrobe. And even grown-ups are jealous.

Worst: Rihanna

She was known to her debut album, Music of the Sun, released in 2005 which peaked in the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart.

She inspired millions with her 2009 Glamour Women of the Year Award but left fashionistas unispired with her choice of curtain couture. And, this is not the first time the singer disappointed the people in the high-fashion industry on the red carpet. At the American Music Awards, she rocked an offbeat Marchesa gown.

Best: Kate Gosselin

She is best known for the reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 which profiles her and her husband Jon Gosselin as they raise their atypical family of sextuplets and twins.

Her divorce with her husband is pending. In this simple, yet elegant Catherine Malandrino dress, she appeared undaunted by her pending divorce.

Worst: M.I.A.

She is a music artist and Time Magazine named her as one of the World's Most Influential People. And look at her top - looks like a plug for National Geographic's Shark Week - but, it's not, just a poor judgment.

Best: Leighton Meester

She is an American actress, singer-songwriter and fashion model best known for her role as Blair Waldorf in the TV show Gossip Girl.

She looks ever-so-cute when she is not tongue-twisting with co-star, Ed Westwick,or conniving with classmates on Gossip Girl. On occasion, she did push the envelope a little when it came to her style selections in 2009, but overall, she knows how to work it. Nothing to gossip about here!

Worst: Fergie

She is Stacy Ann Ferguson in real life but is better known by her stage name, Fergie. She is an American singer-songwriter, fashion designer and actress.

Although Fergie looked amazing at the Nine premiere, her stage outfits in 2009 have left many speechless. Tacky spandex + too much skin = something reminiscent of Cher's 1989 "If I Could Turn Back Time" video—and that's not a good thing. (Sorry, Cher fans.) At least she's not straddling cannons!

Best: Michelle Obama

The year 2009 brought America a new president and a new style icon. When she began to venture onto the campaign trail with Barack, many realized that the world of fashion would never be the same. Many blogs are dedicated to the first lady's wardrobes to news headlines about her style choices. Fashionistas and non-fashionistas alike have been inspired to cinch belts, rock bows and accessorize with brooches. There's no question—she earned her spot on best-dressed list of 2009.

Worst: Lady Gaga

She is an American recording artist. She is known to her second single "Poker Face" which was released on September 23, 2008, and has reached number one in nearly twenty countries, including almost all major music markets in the world.

She is a four-time platinum award winner. She hides her poker face behind an elaborate veil with as many layers as her onstage persona. The world went gaga with this fashion freak -- from futuristic outlooks to downright odd outfits -- in 2009. Although she is listed in the worst-dressed, she is one of all-time favorite musicians of the year.

Best: Gwen Stefani

She is an American singer and fashion designer. She is the lead vocalist for the rock band "No Doubt."

At New York Fashion Week, she showed off her L.A.M.B. collection leaving no doubt she has an eye for style. She maintained her fabulous wardrobe in 2009 and not only that, she dressed her son, Kingston Rossdale, just as hip.

Worst: Adam Lambert

His real name is Adam Mitchel Lambert. He is an American singer, songwriter and actor from San Diego, California. He finished as the runner-up in May 2009 on the 8th season of the American Idol.

An American Idol winner, he was criticized for imitating same-sex acts on stage at the live American Music Awards which might be branded as scandalous for some. He has poor choices in fashion. Just look at his studded jacket! (Sorry for those who love studded jackets)
