Are You Hooked?

What a thrill ride to anticipate the next weekly episode of the hit TV Show Scandal. If the ratings and Twitter and Facebook buzz are any indication, the show has garnered fans from all over. Some fans may take their love of the show to the extreme, however. Here is a list of signs to let you know you may be over the top with Scandal:

  1. You set your DVR for every show and watch it again as soon as the episode is over. That's just in case you missed something. Or you turn to Netflix or Hulu to watch reruns when the season is over. (My cousin does this.)
  2. You no longer know what an hour feels like since the action moves so fast and the show seems to last only five minutes.
  3. When you have a crisis, you wonder what Olivia Pope would do; when you are angry, you wonder what Huck would do.
  4. You start to think that maybe you have a chance with the President after all.
  5. You experience withdrawal at the thought that the show is over for the season.
  6. Your schedule is set around the time of the show even though you could easily watch it later. It's just not the same thrill and you miss your Twitter connections.
  7. When you meet someone new, at least once in the conversation you work around to asking if they watch Scandal and immediately start talking about your favorite scenes, whether they watch or not.
  8. You watch with your cell phone is in your hand and you can't resist Tweeting/texting OMG at nearly every commercial break.

A Tiny Snippet

9. You look for "the walk" in every guy you see. So far, it's the President (the real one), the President (the TV version), and Denzel Washington. Oh, and those slimmed down Kia Soul Hamsters. Can you name more?

10. You research the props on the show and look for where you can purchase them. (Again, my cousin.)

Oh, and I guess there are 11. You start to talk very fast, with few breaks in your sentences and leave veiled threats along the way.

The stars of the show only add to can't wait to see the next episode" drama of the show. Thirty-seven year old Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, crisis manager and heroine. Her flawed, but popular character, is in love with the President.

Washington also starred in the Oscar winning movie, Django unchained. In 2013, she was nominated for an Emmy for her role in Scandal.

Tony Goldwyn, President Fitzgerald Grant in Scandal, was first on the scene as the villain Carl Bruner in the movie Ghost. Stats on Tony Goldwyn include his height as 6'2" which undoubtedly accounts for that oh so smooth walk. He's married with children, but is in love with Olivia Pope.

The Gladiators and other stars of the show are a superb cast of actors whose performances enhance every scene. It would be hard to imagine the show being what it is without each of their realistically portrayed characters.

Scandal is prime-time soap at it's daring best.

There you have it. If any of the symptoms fit you, well, you are surely anxiously waiting for the next episode. It's just as certain that waiting for a new season is torture for you. (But not Huck style torture, thank goodness.)

If there are any other signs that say you are hooked on that fabulously popular show, please feel free to share. Being a fan is not a Scandal.

Hi Cyndi.. yeah.. no.. I tried watching scandal.. it's really not for me.. but this hub was interesting.. people really go to that extreme? I mean I enjoy Sleepy Hollow, Hawaii 5-0, and even person of interest, but I don't go that over-board.. great hub nonetheless..:)

Hi Frank, Good to hear from you, as usual. I like Sleepy Hollow as well, though I'm not as fixated with it. I like it because it's different. Thanks for enjoying the Hub.

Take care.

I've never seen this show but it sounds delicious. I'm a little scared that if I start watching it I'll be hooked on yet another t.v. show. LOL

Hi Eddy, I'm so glad you could enjoy the hub without ever having watched the show. If you ever get a chance to watch, give it a try. It's very entertaining.

Thank you for leaving a comment!

Take care.

Hi Genna, Thanks for the read. I appreciate getting the positive feedback. The show may not be for everyone, however, most really enjoy it when they tune in. Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator, had a fantastic idea for a plot and she and the writers have backed it up every week. Never a dull moment.

Thanks and take care. Cyndi

I would say that you are hooked if you keep constantly talking about it, you've seen every episode, and you are more than ready for the new episode to come out. Overall, nice read. Voted up.

Hi torrilyn, yep, I'm a little bit hooked. I hope you have the chance to watch an episode or two. I love the pace as much as anything else. If you do watch, let me know your thoughts. Take care!

I don't know I missed this hub. I don't about Scandal. Sounds interesting.

Hi DDE, If you have the opportunity to take a look at Scandal, do it. If you like drama delivered at a very fast past, with a dose of intrigue and political "goings on" then you will like Scandal.

Thanks for reading and commenting. If you check out the show, I'd love to know what you think of it. Take care.

haha, I thought you meant the other scandal: a public embarrassment as in gossips etc. Well, now I got informed of Scandal: the thrilling political tv series. Lol. Good one though.

Hmmm. Maybe I should add TV Show to the title so that its clear its not one of the many public scandals that are always swirling around. I need to think about that.

I love the show. It's back on in the fall. If you have a chance to catch up on the episodes I recommend it. The writing is great - plot and character development are almost textbook for hooking the viewer. The fast past and the subject matter aren't necessarily for everyone, but then that's why it's called Scandal.

Thanks for leaving a comment! Take care.

Cyndi10,

Loved this hub. I confess. I may not be hooked as you say in your text, but it all depends on the scandal. And not the television show.

Let's say that Kathie Lee Gifford was the focus of an F.B.I. investigation where she allegedly was smuggling illegal immigrants (terrorists in disguise) across the border and got caught. That, my friend, would be a tough program to turn away from.

Oh, I checked and I could not find a place to follow you.

But keep up the great work.

Hi Kenneth, A good scandal is always hard to ignore, whether it's tv personalities or the office coworker. But it's always better when the scandal is about someone else. LOL.

Hmmm. Not sure why you didn't see how to follow. I'll check on that. Thanks for the heads up on that. By the way, I like your work as well.

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to leave a comment. Take care.

Hey, Cyndi10,

I agree with your response about scandals.

Would it be in line with HubPages guidelines to write/publish a hub about "San Diego Sandal Scandal?" Of course this is just a fantasy, but wouldn't it be a novel thing to uncover and expose a massive cover-up in a sandal shop in San Diego selling knock-off sandals that are supposed to be endorsed by George Clooney?

Wow!

You take care and do check on the following item.

Please keep in touch.

That would indeed be deep! You take care as well and keep that creative mind active!

@ Cyndi10,

Will do.

And you, dear, talented friend, please do the same.

:)

Kenneth
