10 Upcoming Movie Sequels of 2015
This year, the new movies that are being released are expected to top almost all of last year's favorites. 2015 is said to be one of the greatest years for movie releases if everything goes according to plan. It is even a bigger year for sequels that are being released, as the sequels are coming from insanely popular movies that people have loved. With new sequel releases such as Pitch Perfect 2, Mockingjay Part 2, and The Avengers 2, these movies will easily dominate the charts. Get ready to be spending lots of money on theater tickets!
1. Star Wars Episode VII : The Force Awakens
Release Date: December 18, 2015
Director: J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Super 8, Mission: Impossible 3)
Star Wars is one of the most popular sagas in the world and has attracted many viewers, young and old. Nearly everybody in the world knows what Star Wars is, even if they haven't seen an episode themselves. The Force Awakens picks up about 30 years after the previous episode, Return of the Jedi. We are informed that there will be a set of new cast members, as well as old ones.
The returning cast members are Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2). Of the new cast members, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, some are predicted to play the children of characters like Luke, Leia, Han, and others.
Not much is known about the plot for Star Wars Episode VII, however there are a lot of predictions that fans have come up with.

2. Finding Dory
Release Date: November 25th, 2015 (according to screenrant.com)
Director: Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL-E, John Carter)
As one of the world's most popular Pixar animated film, Finding Nemo has captivated audiences since 2003. The movie follows a clownfish, Marlin, and his quest to find his son Nemo throughout the vast ocean. Taking place about a year after Finding Nemo, Finding Dory is set near the California coastline.
It is confirmed that cast members such as Ellen Degeneres (Dori), Albert Brooks (Marlin), Willem Dafoe (Gill), and Vicki Lewis (Deb and Flo) will all be returning for this sequel. There will also be many new characters being introduced, such as Dori's parents and Dori's adopted sister, a killer whale. This movie will also most likely be released in both 2D and 3D.
3. Pitch Perfect 2
Release Date: May 15, 2015
Director: Elizabeth Banks (Actress in The Hunger Games, Magic Mike XXL, Pitch Perfect)
One of 2012s most popular films, Pitch Perfect attracted many fans and audiences, especially young females. This sequel is probably one of the most awaited out of this whole list, due to the majority of people who were obsessed or fans of the original. Pitch Perfect is about a singing group, called the Barden Bellas, who have formed a new group of singers due to their failing at a final campus singing competition the previous year. The singers prepare to participate in the campus singing competition once again, but this time they hope that they can win. Pitch Perfect 2 is continuing on by following the Barden Bellas, who now engage in an international singing competition and strive to be one of the first American teams to ever win.
The original cast will be back, which includes Anna Kendrick (Beca Mitchel), Kelly Alice Jakle (Jessica), Rebel Wilson ("Fat Amy"), Brittany Snow (Chloe Beale), Ester Dean (Cynthia Rose Adams), Alexis Knapp (Stacie Conrad), Hana Mae Li (Lilly Okanakamura), Elizabeth Banks (Gail Abernathy-McKadden), and more. There will also be a lot more new characters being introduced from the Barden Bellas' rival group in the film, The Treblemakers.
4. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Release Date: May 1, 2015
Director: Joss Whedon (wrote The Avengers, In Your Eyes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)
Following the release of The Avengers in 2012, Avengers: Age of Ultron is the sequel that picks up around where it left off. When the plan to maintain peace throughout their world goes wrong, the Avengers have to group together to prevent evil Ultron from carrying out his villainous plans.
The cast is as follows: Robert Downy Jr. (Tony Stark/ Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Dr. Bruce Banner/ The Hulk), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/ Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/ Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/ Hawkeye), and more.
The movie is most likely going to be action-packed and fast-paced, and may even be able to surpass it's previous Avengers from 2012. This may seem unlikely, but Marvel seems to be definitely stepping up the ante with their movies, and this may be one of the greatest Avengers movie yet.

5. Insurgent
Release Date: March 20, 2015
Director: Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler's Wife, RED, Flightplan)
Tris Prior lives in a world where society is divided into five distinct groups; Amity (Peaceful), Candor (Honest), Erudite (Intelligent), Abnegation (Selfless), and Dauntless (Brave). She is divergent, which means she is a combination of at least three of the factions. This is said to be a threat to the overbearing society, and the one of the main parts of the plot of Divergent is how Tris attempts to conceal her divergence. Another adaptation from Veronica Roth's novel, Insurgent continues where it left off. Tris and her friends must fight together to defeat the forces that threaten to ruin everybody's world.
Shailene Woodley (Tris Prior), Theo James (Tobias/Four), Zoe Kravitz (Christina), and Ansel Elgort (Caleb Prior) are the major cast members.
The movie will most likely attract many young adult viewers who have read the book, along with watched the Divergent movie and have read the whole series. The movie is also predicted to be very similar to the book.
6. Insidious: Chapter 3
Release Date: June 5, 2015
Director: Leigh Whannell (wrote Saw III, Dead Silence, Insidious, Insidious Chapter 2)
As a prequel to the first two films, Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2, Insidious Chapter 3 will be focusing on a new family and a new story. Previously, the plot has been about the Lambert family. The main character in this film will be a teenage girl, who has been having paranormal encounters and eventually discovers the otherworldly realm, which has also been explored in the first and second movies, The Further. There are more mysteries that are unraveled, and the audience will soon make connections and discover more about the first two films.
Regardless of there being a new story, cast members from the previous film will still have a role in this new installment. Those cast members are Lin Shaye (Elise Rainer), Angus Sampson (Tucker), and Leigh Wannell (Specs), who are paranormal ghost hunters in the previous films. New cast members such as, Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, and Ashton Moio, will also be introduced.
Get ready for another Insidious film, horror fans!
7. The Peanuts Movie
Release Date: November 6, 2015

One of the most beloved cartoons all around the world, the Peanuts cartoons have been enjoyed by a great majority of children, even adults. Branching off from the cartoon world, the creators of Peanuts are now taking it a step further. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, and the rest of the group will be shown in 3D (as well as 2D). The films will focus on all of the characters featured in Charlie Brown/Peanuts cartoons, and will even dedicate a large portion of the film to the world's most lovable cartoon beagle. Snoopy will begin his quest on defeating his enemy, The Red Baron, and will spend a lot of time flying in an airplane. Meanwhile, Charlie Brown and his friends will take part in their own quests. The main focus of the film is to teach children perseverance, just like Charlie Brown has, who may not succeed at everything he attempts.
Voice actors Bill Melendez (Snoopy and Woodstock), Noah Schanpp (Charlie Brown), Hadley Belle Miller (Lucy van Pelt), AJ Teece (Pig-Pen), Noah Johnston (Schroeder), Venus Schultheis (Peppermint Patty), Alexander Garfin (Linus van Pelt), Mariel Sheets (Sally Brown), and many others will be involved in the film.
8. Jurassic World

The fourth installment of the popular Jurassic Park film series, Jurassic World will be taking the audience on another harrowing adventure. Twenty-two years after the events that occurred in the first Jurassic Park film, a first ever dinosaur theme park has been situated on the islet Isla Nublar. The theme park is doing very well, however the staff of the park are not as satisfied with the number of visitors. To boost visitor attendance, the park's geneticists experiment with their dinosaurs and soon create a new genetically modified hybrid dinosaur. Having underestimated the power of this dangerous creature, the staff and visitors are soon in great danger when the dinosaur escapes from its confines, wreaking havoc on the theme park.
Cast members such as Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Vincent D'Onofrio (Vic Hoskins), Jake Johnson (Lowery),and Nick Robinson (Zach) will be starring in this new film.
9. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

The last installment of one of the world's most popular trilogies, Mockingjay Part 2 is finishing off the first part of the film, Mockingjay Part 1. In a world where the nation is divided into twelve districts and the government rules almost every aspect of a citizen's life, Katniss Everdeen has begun a revolution. The Capitol doesn't feel so powerful anymore once Katniss is able to spark rebellions and has led the whole system of districts to become almost nonexistent. Before, the twelve districts competed against each other in a fight to the death. Now, all of the districts are fighting together against a common enemy. Leaving district 13, Katniss and her friends prepare to launch an attack to assassinate President Snow, leader of the Capitol.

The first movie, Sinister, introduced us to a desperate crime writer, Ellison Oswald, who has failed to find a decent writing topic in over ten years. After finding old videos, showing the deaths of a family, he decides to solve the mystery, and he and his family move into the house the family previously lived in. Ellison soon realizes that he made a grave mistake, as a supernatural force in the house may cause he and his family's deaths. In the second film, a overprotective mother and her nine year old twin sons move into the deadly house. After living in the house for a while, they discover that they too, have made a grave mistake, and are in great danger.
Cast members Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, Tate Ellington, Nicholas King, Delphine Pontvieux, and others will take part in this suspenseful mystery.
