2012 American Music Award

Updated on November 9, 2014

What is this

Okay I'm sitting here watching the American Music Award. Is it just me, or can these young people not sing nowadays? I can't believe it's been 40 years since it's inception. I remember when it started, I think I must have been about 5 years old. LOL, Hahaha! Anyway, I haven't watched one of these shows in quite awhile, and didn't really intend to watch tonight, just got caught off guard. So maybe it's the venue, and it somehow affects their voices. I heard somewhere that they didn't need to be able to sing well, because they have all those voice enhancers. That might work for the records, but these live performances really suffer as a result of not using them.

I'm going to give this a chance, but so far I'm not impressed. Say what is this on this girl's head, (Nikki Minaj), is this a cap, wig or what? What a pretty girl, I don't think she needs that hair, or whatever to enhance her beauty.

Well I guess I'm just too old to appreciate these performances, they're a little too risque for me. I'm 50 minutes into this and I'm still waiting for a stellar performance. I hope I can hold out until one comes. One thing I can give them credit for, the technology is impressive, I guess this is suppose to hold your attention, in case you don't like the performances.

Did Anyone Ever Tell Justin Bieber

Did anyone never tell Justin Bieber, never predict your own, outcome in this industry. Even though I don't keep up with this kind of thing, but I have seen performers predict their ultimate outcome in this business and soon after go down in "flames." Bieber said in his acceptance speech, "This is for all the haters, who said I'd only be around for a year or so, I think I'll be around for a long time." Careful son, just saying.

What I like so far

I don't know who Linkin Park is, but I like the way they were dressed. I also like their acceptance speech, short and sweet. So far I've appreciated the acceptance speeches of all the recipients. I'm watching Taylor Swift's performance, and it's not half bad, clean and her voice if not half bad either. Hey, when I looked away she mysteriously changed clothes. Just remember these observations are from an old woman, so they don't really count for much, LOL!

Okay, now I'm listening to Linkin Park, I don't understand a word of what they're saying, but decent performance. Doesn't anyone enunciate anymore?

On the Fence

I'm now watching Nikki Minaj. Don't understand her either. So she, "sings," and raps. OKAY! Is this suppose to be a gospel song, I don't understand?

So is Pink's performance portraying spousal abuse? Just asking! Interesting, to say the least!

I just had to mute this performer, I won't say who, but it was easier to watch their performance than to listen their voice. Okay switch channels for a minute, not just the voice, now the performance is beginning to suck. And these are the most popular performers of the day, what can I say!

I can't believe I'm still here, but I'm waiting for PSY to perform Gangnam Style. I must confess, I'm entertaining myself by playing computer games, (Wordfeud), while I wait.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, born Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989, in Reading Pennsylvania. At 14 years of age she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in country music. She appears to have become "the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number one song on the country chart." Being only 22 years there's much more to be written as her life unfolds before our very eyes.

PSY and MC HAMMER

Finally, worth the wait. Finally PSY appears, with special guest star, MC Hammer. I could not believe MC can still put it down. That is a very high energy song and dance, and MC kept up with PSY and his dancers. This dance craze reminds me of the 1990's Macarena craze, it was met with the same fervor. Let's see how long this one lasts.
