5 Sci-Fi movies to watch in 2016
Overall the year 2015 turned out to be not all that great as far as GOOD Sci-fi movies are concerned. But 2016 is going to fill that void by giving viewers visual treat of epic sci-fi cinema. The saga of sci-fi will continue in 2017 too. Some of by friends are more avid sci-fi movie goers than I'm and they helped me put together this short list of movies that they are soooo looking forward to watch. Some of them are part of an engaging series while others, they say, have potential of becoming super hit sci-fi movies in 2016.
Space battles, alien invasion and post-apocalyptic world! This is year 2016’s sci-fi movie scene for you in a nutshell. Here are five must watch upcoming sci-fi movies that many are looking forward to:
1. The 5th Wave
Start your new year with epic alien invasion fantasy! This Chloe Grace Moretz starrer is expected to release on January 15, 2016. The alien lovers are going to enjoy this film where Grace plays a girl who is escaping from four waves of alien attack on the earth.
The most dangerous fifth wave of attack is expected soon and Grace has huge task of saving her brother from aliens. J Blakeson is the director of movie. Blakeson has previously made wonders like The Descent: Part 2.
2. Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1
After its spectacular performance in the 2015, the Divergent series will be back to amaze you in March. The last movie resulted in the end of oppressive rule in the city. Now Beatrice and Tobias will explore the world outside the city borders.
In the beginning they will be taken by some secret agency called the Bureau of Genetic warfare and the adventure will continue from there. Shailene Woodley and Theo James are definitely going to rock this one along with pleasant presence of Ansel Elgort, a fault in our stars fame.
3. Independence Day: Resurgence
When Independence Day was released, many of us became its instant fans due to awesome action scenes and storyline. The mind game playing aliens are coming back to attack Earth once again in June. The director plans to go on the next level with plot.
In the fictional future, all nations in the world have started massive defence program using the remains of alien technology. But only the dedication of committed men and women can save our world from catastrophic alien attack. Though Will Smith is not likely to be in the movie, watching Liam Hemsworth may fill that gap.
4. Star Trek Beyond
For the nerds, Star Trek is not just a movie but it is a cultural phenomenon. Star Trek fans can relive the phenomena in July by watching ‘Star Trek Beyond’. There is so much to look forward to about the adventures of USS Enterprise.
It is direct sequel to Chris Pine starrer Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). For hard-core fans, it is thirteenth Star Trek movie. Plot details are not available yet but the screen play has been written by adorable Simon Pegg.
Note: Not sure if the following trailer is the official one. If anyone of you has the URL to official one, do leave it in comment section. TIA :)
In a fictional future, a group of supernatural beings are causing havoc in the New York City. The Spectral is a story about a special-ops team that is fighting these supernatural beings. The movie will be released on August 12, 2016. The cast is not that well known but has names like Emily Mortimer, HBOs Newsroom fame. Another reason to watch the movie is that it will be released in 3D.
