Photos of Roses and Rose Gardens

It stands to reason that if I love flowers, and love gardens, that I would love rose gardens. So its no secret that I absolutely love rose gardens. They bring to mind the memory of wonderful times in my past and into my childhood, where I was always around people that loved roses and gardens.

My father grew his own beautiful rose garden along our backyard fence. He tended them with care. We would cut little bouquets of various colors, to take to his parents grave. We also toured rose gardens in Southern California, and my grandparents on my mother's side grew them as well.

Here is a sampling of some rose photos and gardens that I have taken over the last couple of years. I hope you enjoy!

Rose Photos

Photo 1 - This is an elaborate gated entry to a rose garden at Saint Louis Botanical Gardens in Missouri. There is a colorful display of Dale Chihuly Glass sculptures here as well. That fence houses many climbing rose bushes that bloom in the summer time. I could only dream of having a rose garden like this!

Photo 2 - Not much tops a single red rose, except for the occasional single bright yellow rose. I love this rose, it seems almost perfect. It emanates sunshine to me. I would be gladdened by a dozen of these as much as any dozen red roses I think!

Photo 3 - The beautiful pink rose here, is truly at a perfect blossoming point. This is my opinion of course, but the curves and how the petals are opening up is just truly beautiful to me. Very elegant and lovely.

Photo 4 - Bright and coral colored, this rose is sure to make an extra splash of color in any garden you find it in. I think its so lovely! I imagine this would be great near a blue rose or a purple rose. The colors would compliment so well I think and really "pop."

Photo 5 - A rose garden, with tall trees as a backdrop. This garden has many different colored roses, but the ones that stand out most from this view to me are the red ones.

Photo 6 - A pink rose garden. I love how this looks, and it is just so lovely to walk along in a rose garden like this.

Photo 7 - A bright pink rose bloom and bud behind it. While this variety of rose doesn't have many petals, it has a lot of color. I absolutely love this bright pink rose and bud.

Photo 8 - At the Missouri Botanical Garden, one can see the Linnean House Conservatory. This is one view of it, showing some of the rose garden in front. I haven't grown my own roses yet in the Midwest, other than a climbing red rose bush. I miss California very much in this regard. I am encouraged to see though, that they indeed can be grown well by at least master gardeners.

The sun is shining and it's supposed to be seventy; a perfect day for pruning. The yellow rose gave me new perspective. I am normally a red pink person. Your picture makes me yearn for a yellow rose to add to the garden.

Hello Kevin, thank you very much for your kind words. I appreciate your visit, comment and votes there. Have a great day.

Tireless Traveler, thank you for stopping by. That does sound like a nice day there to do some pruning. I am like you in that I often am drawn more to the pinks and reds in roses. That one yellow one really stands out to me too, and makes me want to plant a yellow rose bush.

I love roses and your photos are stunning. My grandfather always tended his roses with loving care and I have grown roses both in Wisconsin and now in Houston, Texas. The Missouri Botanical Garden is SO beautiful! I actually featured some of it in a hub. Spent part of a day there one time and I wish we had spent the ENTIRE day there! Such a beauty for people who live in that area to drop in and visit frequently. Voted up and beautiful and SHARING this with my followers.

Hello Peggy, I appreciate your comment and visit and sharing very much! The botanical garden in Saint Louis is lovely, and while I don't live that close to it, I try to go when I can. It's a very nice place, and I hope maybe you get the chance in the future to go again and spend the whole day. Thanks for your kind words about my photos, you put a smile on my face. Have a great evening.

Hi Alipuckett, thank you for your kind words, and I love that yellow rose also. I like what you said about it being sunny. :) That is part of what makes me love it also. Thanks for stopping by my hub on roses. :)

I love both growing roses and touring public gardens. Beautiful photos in your hub! I've been to the botanical garden in St. Louis and it sure is lovely. Here in the Chicago area there are gorgeous rose gardens at the Chicago Botanical Garden and at Cantigny Gardens in the suburb of Wheaton. Never get tired of talking about & viewing rose displays!

Hello Laura, So we definitely have some things in common! I love roses, and visiting gardens. I hope to go to the gardens you mention like Cantigny Gardens and the Chicago Botanical garden. I have a membership to my local garden here and it is a reciprocal membership that you can use at many across the country. I will have to try to seek those two out that you mention. They are each so unique. One of my favorite things about the rose gardens is the sheer mass of different roses grown. I could never replicate that myself in my own garden space, so it is a true joy.

Thank you for your visit to my rose hub! Have a nice day.
