A Tribute to John Lennon

A TRIBUTE TO JOHN LENNON

IMAGINE

By: John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

John Winston Lennon was born on Oct. 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England. His parents were Julia and Fred Lennon. John was an only child. Unfortunately, his parents got separated when he was still very young. Julia, unable to raise her only son, gave him to his older sister, Mary. John developed a close relationship with his mother, Julia, in his teen years, who taught him to play banjo and then later, he learned to play guitar. But somehow, this was shortened by the unspeakable death of his mother who was killed by a drunken police officer. Despite of the tragic events that took place in John's life, this did not stop him from being the great musician that he was.

Many of us are familiar with the story of how The Beatles was formed which was lead by John Lennon. In their era, The Beatles, particularly John, were an inspiration to many youngsters. They loved their music and looked up to them. Today, many teenagers, including my son, were introduced to The Beatles by Beatles Rock Band. Ever since then, my son became The Beatles #1 fan. He knows all of their songs and history and many of his drawings were Beatles inspired. John Lennon would have been 70 years old today. He might not be with us anymore, but his legend lingers on. Thank you, John, for bringing inspiration to many people all over the world. Peace.

"All we are saying is give peace a chance."-John Lennon

You hear the song, but don't appreciate the beauty of the words until you see them in print. Thanks for the remainder.

Thank you for this fine tribute to an extraordinarily talented man. His fate was tragic. But what a life he had.

You are whitewashing a rather nasty man, who campaigned to raise funds for terrorists when they were murdering thousands.

You need to research a bit deeper into his real views.

Google "John Lennon and the IRA"

Hello christopheranton,

Although I would admit that I do not know everything about John Lennon, one thing that I do know is how he and The Beatles changed the world with their music. Before The Beatles, there was Elvis Presley, whom John Lennon admired and was probably his inspiration with their music. Sadly, the feeling was not mutual.

Anyhow, I grew up listening to The Beatles' music; they really changed the world of Rock and Roll. This was the John Lennon that I paid tribute to. Of course, he made many mistakes and probably had numerous regrets in his life. One thing I do know, though, that he was bold in his beliefs particularly regarding "peace", and he believed in his music. John Lennon was not perfect, but who is?

Thank you for commenting on my hub. I, truly, appreciate it very much. I will look into "John Lennon and the IRA." Thanks for sharing!
