All About Jennifer Love Hewitt

Updated on March 24, 2011

A Successful and Busy Young Woman

Jennifer Love Hewitt, the effervescent young actress, was born on February 21, 1979 in Waco, Texas.

Her naming was a family affair with her, then eight year old, brother, Todd, suggesting Jennifer, the name of a girl that attracted him at the time, as her first name and her mother, the former Patricia Mae Shipp, giving the name of a college friend, Love, as her middle name.

Of course, from her father, Danny (Herbert Daniel Hewitt) , she received her last name of Hewitt.

Her parents got divorced when she was about 6 months old and she was raised by her mother with her early years being spent in Texas.

Jennifer showed an early love for singing and first performed semi-professionally at a livestock show in Texas where, at age 3, she sang The Greatest Love of All before an audience.

A year latter, at age 4, she performed an impromptu rendition of Help Me make It Through The Night from the stage of a local restaurant-dance hall after slipping away from her mother and brother during their meal.

She continued her love of singing and, at age 5, her mother enrolled her in dance lessons. Four years later, at age 9, she joined the Texas Show Team and toured Europe and the Soviet Union with them. It was no surprise that she was spotted by talent scouts and, after agreeing that she was probably headed for a career in show business, her mother took the advice of some talent scouts and moved the family to Los Angeles which has been the actress's home since she was ten.

The move to Los Angeles got her career moving fast.

Soon after arriving in Los Angles she began appearing in commercials got a big break when, at age 10, she landed a spot on the Disney Channel's Kid's Incorporated show.

Following the end of her run on Kid's Incorporated in 1991 she continued getting TV and movie parts until 1995 when she landed the role as Sarah Reeves on the Fox Television show Party of Five. Her career took off with this show and has been on an upward trajectory ever since.

Today, at age 27, Jennifer Love Hewitt continues to dazzle audiences with her acting and singing. Her good looks and youthful personality have made her a hot commodity in the world of show business.

In addition to singing and acting, she is also a sharp business woman who heads her own production company, Love Spell Entertainment.

However, despite being an international star, world renowned recording artist and business woman she also finds time to devote to a variety of charitable causes that include St. Jude Children's Hospital, APLA, Project Angel Food and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

While she has been romantically linked with a variety of male stars, she has yet to find time to marry and settle down.
