Alecia Moore aka Pink, One of The Greatest International Singing Superstars

Updated on December 15, 2011

From Pennsylvania, Alecia Beth Moore better know to you and me as P!nk, the international singing superstar who was born on the 8th September 1979. Alecia went through many phases of her live such as being a skateboarder, Hip Hopper and also a gymnast but it was at the age of 14 where she discovered her love for music and started performing in clubs in Philadelphia.

A keen musician, P!nk is skilled at playing the guitar, piano, keyboard and drums but her talents don't stop there as her resume boasts of being a Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Acrobat, Record Producer and Dancer.

Back to her younger days Alecia formed a girl band called "Choice" with 2 other girl friends when she was just 16 years old, they were spotted and landed themselves a record deal but no singles came and no songs were released so Alecia was "persuaded" to go solo and after deciding this is what she wanted to do and changed her name to "P!nk" which was inspired by the character "Mr Pink" in Reservoir Dogs.

P!nk went on to have a hugely successful music career which has gone from strength to strength and is still going strong, along with the great achievement of winning 8 music awards, P!nk has released 5 albums between 2000 - 2010; Cant take me home - selling 5 million copies worldwide and becoming double platinum in the USA, Missundaztood, Try this - selling 5 million copies worldwide and becoming platinum in the USA, I'm not dead - selling 6 million copies worldwide and coming 10 times platinum in Australia and Fun House - certified 2 times platinum and selling a whopping 86000 in its first week of release. A greatest hits album is also on the cards which will be out soon.

P!nk is very involved in charities and campaigning and is a PETA campaigner, protesting against food chains like KFC. P!nks belief is so strong that she even wrote and sent a letter to Prince William criticising his love of the sport - Fox hunting. The charities she is involved with and work with include Human Rights Campaign, Princes Trust, Save the Children, UNICEF, World Society for the Protection of Animals and the RSPCA where P!nk is know for heavily donating money to these different causes.

No only has P!nk been busy making music she has been staring in a few films also; In 2000 P!nk was in Ski to the Max where she played herself, 2002 the film Rollerball where she played a rock singer, 2003 She was in Charlies Angels - Full Throttle, 2007 the film Catacombs, 2009 Spongebobs Truth or Square, 2010 the film Get him to the Geek and in 2011 will be starring in Happy Feet 2.

But the busy lady doesn't stop there, P!nk has to make time for a personal like and met her boyfriend Carey Hart in 2001 and although they have had there ups and downs they "tied the knot" in Costa Rica in January 2006.

P!nk - A very successful career woman who also has a voice for the really important issues around the world, P!nk really is someone to admire for all that she has done, lets just hope that we see more of her in the coming years and hear more of that great music she produces.
