American Idol 11 Philip Phillips Top 6 Performance of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls"
Philip Phillips has cemented his status as a solid favorite to win the 11th season of American Idol heading into the Top 6 Week.
Members of the British rock group Queen will be visiting Idol tonight, and the contestants will each sing one Queen song and another song of their choice (provided it is cleared by the show for copyright purposes). In Philip's case, almost any genre will do as far as picking a song. He can certainly tailor just about any song to fit his own style. This is both good and bad. The good is that Philip will always have nice, soulful performances. The bad is that he is predictable.
In the end, no matter what Queen song Philip Phillips chooses, his fans are likely to be clamoring for their phones to send in as many votes as possible. He is the only contestant who has not been in the bottom 3 all season long.
Philip opted to sing Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls." He surely has the voice to do this, but I don't know if it's a great style of song for what he usually does. This got somewhat lukewarm judges' comments, as well. He does have one more song to perform tonight, so maybe that will be a better performance for him. This is not the time to start making bad song choices.
