And Then There Were Five...Idol Down to the Top 5

After seeing Siobhan Magnus making her exit last night (4/28/10), American Idol is down to the Top 5. Over the next few weeks, we will be captivated by the likes of Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Lee Dewyze, and Aaron Kelly battling to become the next American Idol.

The frontrunner of Season Nine, in my opinion is Crystal Bowersox. She has been the most consistent performer of the year. She has yet to be in the bottom three. She sounds like a cross of Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt. Bowersox captured viewers hearts from the time of her audition in Chicago bringing her son. She has been called "Mamasox" by her fellow competitors.

For Season Nine, Idol judges used there one and only save of the season for Michael Lynche. "Big Mike" is known to viewers of the show as the man who came to Hollywood week with his wife going into labor and giving birth to their daughter. Lynche is a very soulful singer sounding like Luther Vandross. Lynche has been good overall but has not received the fan support. He has had some performance that have been questionable due to song selection. He is fully of energy and has a great voice. I predict he should be in the final two or three.

Lee Dewyze has been the performer who has been improving as the weeks go on. Dewyze is a native of Chicago and auditioned in his hometown. Dewyze has a sound similar to Dave Matthews. Dewyze has a future in the music business. He has a great sound and he is very down to earth. I see him in the finals or no worse than Top Three.

Casey James definitely captured the heart of judge Kara Dioguardi during his audition in Dallas mainly for taking off his shirt and showing off his body. James has some good and some bad performance. He has been in the bottom three on several occasions. Song selection has hurt Casey James in the competition. I think he could be one of the next contestants to be eliminated.

Aaron Kelly is the youngest competitor at age 16. Kelly has some natural talent. He reminds fans of Idol of Season 7 runner up David Archuleta. Some fans have dubbed Kelly, "Archie 2.0". Kelly has been good enough to stay in the competition. He survives on the young girl vote. I think he will be voted off this coming week or next.

My prediction is Crystal Bowersox as the next American Idol. Great voice and a contestant deserving of this honor.

5/28/10 - My prediction of winner was wrong. Congratulations to Lee Dewyze who was winner of Season Nine of American Idol. Crystal Bowersox was the runner - up but she will certainly have a career in the music industry. Season Nine finale featured some of the Idol contestants singing with artists like Hall and Oates, Chicago, Joe Cocker, Janet Jackson, and Christina Aguilera. Much of the night was dedicated to Simon Cowell as this will be his last season as a judge on American Idol. Cowell will be bringing X Factor to America in the Fall of 2011.
